housing air inlet and actuator?

I just got my car back from the dealership. There was a noise behind the pasenger dash... a clunking every time I turn the AC off or when I turn the recirc on/off. The invoice says they replaced the Housing air inlet and actuator. They told me it was some kind of flap making the noise when it was opening and closing. Does this sound right?

They took my dash apart and some of the paint on the interior needs to be touched up. I hate it when I bring my car to a dealership!

Sounds about right. There was a post w/pictures of that flap, way back when, here on the forum. Can't remember for the life of me who it was or what it was called.

Sorry about the scratches, but it seems inevitable with a trip to the dealer.

Main thing is.........did they get it fixed????

I don't think so, but as soon as I get some time to dig I'll find it.

It seems like the problem is fixed. The noise is very quiet. It is not rattling like it used to. I haven't had much time to check it out since I got the car back but it seems ok. I have a guy that touches up the interior. I had a couple other areas I wanted him to toouch up but figured I would wait until the AC problem was fixed. Now I will get him to touch up those spots too. In the end I am sure everything will be fine. Thanks...

If the dealer screwed it up the dealer should be fixing it and/or paying for it !!! customer pay or warranty either way the dealer is at fault, you may want to try another dealership, I had almost the same things happen to my first xfire, took it to one dealer and they messed it all up so I called another dealer and spoke with the service manager and they took care of all of it, but mine was under warranty.

Okay, I finally found the thread and it was BillP2R that tore into it. Photos are in his gallery.
