Now it's time to say goodbye...

...to all of the great folks on this forum. I will not go into details of the accident but suffice it to say that my XF is totaled. The good news is that the driver walked away and the passenger, after spending a few days in the hospital, has very minor and no serious, lasting injuries. Our families credit the build quality of these fine cars with saving the lives of both young men. While I would love to purchase another, I have decided that I'm going to move on to an MB.
Thanks to all for making the past 2 years so much fun. This has got to be one of the best, if not THE BEST forum on the Web. To Patpur and Iamfink2, I will see you in Burtonsville one Sunday soon. Everyone drive SAFE and have FUN. Attachment 14000 Attachment 14001 Attachment 14002 Attachment 14003 |

Re: Now it's time to say goodbye....
It looks like your car was doing 100+ miles per hour and jumped off a cliff. What happened? What are the details of the accident?

Re: Now it's time to say goodbye....
Hi Fenwick223
Very glad to hear all ok, I think you should put the Xfire up for the next Transformers movie, I think there is some thing in there trying to get out. But enjoy your next ride, One thinks you could be back. :p Cheers Andy |
Re: Now it's time to say goodbye....

Re: Now it's time to say goodbye....
What can I say that hasn't been said? Wow again, and thank God you are all OK.

Re: Now it's time to say goodbye....
I will offer a few details: It was a "very dark" night (I know that sounds redundant but I think most of you know what I mean) and it was raining extremely hard. The driver lost control of the XF, hit a tree, it rolled (once? twice? no one knows), hit a telephone pole, and landed on the roof. The driver managed to crawl out and went back in a number of times to try to help the passenger not realizing that live power lines were down over the car. A passerby called 911 and rescue personnel arrived and had to wait for the power company to come and remove the power lines. Everyone from rescue, police, power, towing, and insurance say it was about the worse they had ever seen and have people walk away. When I saw the car, my heart sank - not from the loss of the car but trying to image how they survived. A Higher Power was definitely looking out for them that stormy night. It hard to believe that my baby is gone - I really enjoyed the XF!

Re: Now it's time to say goodbye....
Thank God for the lives saved. Just because you don't have a crossfire does'nt mean you can't visit from time to time.
Be safe and let us know what MB you end up with. |
Re: Now it's time to say goodbye....
Bruce - Sorry to hear about your mishap. We definitely have to talk.
Glad you are ok! Pat |
Re: Now it's time to say goodbye...

Re: Now it's time to say goodbye...
Looks almost identicial to a wreck my cousin had in her camaro a few years back, she was in the hospital for around a week. Your's was a very lucky crash, if there is such a thing. A little off subject but what are your plans with those tires?
|
Re: Now it's time to say goodbye...
I wish I could offer up the tires to someone but the insurance company has already taken possession of what's left of the car. One tire was last seen sitting beside the road and it had literally been ripped off the rim; the rim was in two pieces. I would not want anyone to take the tires (if it were even possible) because they would have no way of knowing what unseen damage was caused by the collision. Believe me, the thought occurred to me but I just would not feel right about it.

Re: Now it's time to say goodbye...
Too bad because I would have purchased a couple parts from the interior if they were still in good condition.

Re: Now it's time to say goodbye...
Sorry 'bout your baby there Fenwick. Looks like one helluva bad roll over. Glad everyone survived. Good luck on your new ride.

Re: Now it's time to say goodbye...
That's amazing. I'm glad everyone turned out alright. Maybe you should reconsider another Crossfire seeing how well they protect the driver & passinger in accidents. At least you're going MB.
