Hello I'm new here...
 

Hello everyone.

My name is cameron. I currently drive a 2007 chevy cobalt SS (2.4/NA). I've always liked the crossfires and and thinking about getting one as my next car. The thing is I have no 1rst or 2nd hand info on the differences, pros, and cons of makeing the choice between a coupe, roadster or SRT-6. It DEFFINATLY needs to be manual.

I'm not looking to spend more than 10K (i fould a coupe for 8500 but it was Auto).

Any input or opinions would be great.

p.s. I'm on a show team currently with my cobalt. Put a bit of money into it and will probably do the same with the crossfire :)

if you are so set on a manual then you can rule out ALL SRT-6s'.


Just do some research on here, you can find any/all information you want. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Ok cool.

I really like the roadsters but they seem to be out of my pricerange.

I think the one I found was perfect but it was AUTO. It was white with leather stitched bucket seats. it was an '04 coupe.

Welcome to the forum. Even the Autos in these cars are pretty sweet. If it will be a weekend car def. get the roadster. Otherwise they are all great.

I'm sure they are. It's just I've been driving an auto for 3 years and I really want a stick. especially with the RWD.

And which ever car I do get will be a daily driver so the stick would be a little annoying at times. but Its a sacrifice I'm willing to make.

Thank you :) i've put a lot of time efort and $$ into it. Don't wanna get rid of it for a while. but I rode in a cross fire the other day and fell in love...so we'll see

Welcome to our world! Take a look around the forum and you will see that there's loads of info about the crossfire here. There's also loads of GREAT folks here. Hope that you get that XF soon and become one of them.

If you get a roadster it's gonna require a little bit more upkeep. Judging by the looks of your Colbalt that's not gonna be a problem!

hahaha...I don't wanna deal with a car thats gonna have problems. The 'balt has taken 2 years to get to its current hotness....But i'm deffinatly gonna do my research on the XF and we'll see what happens.

The crossfire is instant "hotness"....I fall in love all over again each day when I accelerate in my 6.....When you hit her she whines!!!!:cool:

I've heard good things about the SS and performance, and car and driver says the same. What have you done performance wise, what are you putting down at the wheels??
I agree regarding the manual, BUT I compromised on the auto for the power. some friends of mine have manual crossfire coupes, and they all love to drive my SRT. plus if you're a tuner, which by looking at your SS, clearly you are, the SRT is by far the better choice (more options, and more bang for your buck). my 2 cents.

Thanks for your repyings and welcomes everyone.

So the SRT is Auto but has more power than the Coupe which can be Standard or Auto? What did the poster above mean by "if you are so set on a manual then you can rule out ALL SRT-6s'"
are they not availible in standard transmission?

Honestly I'm nothin but a fake. haha. This as I stated before is really just a show car. I haven't done anything perfomance wise excet a 2.5 inch catback exhaust.

The only thing I plan on doing to it under the hood is a K&N short Ram intake, B&M shift plus kit and putting a 75 shot bottle on it for a little extra push when i "need" it every now and then.

I'm only putting down about 190 at the moment (in regards to the "SS" I have a 2.4 SS which is a larger engine than the other SSs but it is not superchargered or turbo'd. Naturally Asperated.)

SRT's only available in Auto.
Manual trans only available in NA cars.

Before you ask, no you can't put a manual trans in an SRT. Ok, with tons of $$$ maybe. Think only one person has done it.
