Default Wind noise recap

Hey everybody, I know this discussion has been kicked around all over the place but I am trying to decide what to do and would like to get as much advice / input as possible: I get wind noise from both sides starting at around 50MPH. It is really pronounced at speeds north of 70 or so. My personal opinion is that it is abnormal, but I am starting to read reviews, comments, etc. that seem to indicate it "goes with the territory" so to speak. Then I seem to remember reading that Chrysler is aware of a problem, has a service bulletin, etc.. What I don't want to do is take it to the dealer and either 1) have them jerk me off and insist there's no problem or 2) Have them keep the car for a day or two and put together some half baked "solution" that isn't if you catch my drift.

So I'm just wondering if anybody has had any dealer experiences (fixes, screw ups, runarounds, etc.), if I just have to live with it, etc.. I'd appreciate any input. Thanks.

Check to be sure your windows are not going up too high and hiting the drip molding instead of the weather stipping. That's what was giving me a wind noise problem. Not to mention making it a little difficult to close the doors.

There's a TSB for air leaks at the door glass! There's an adjustment that can be made to the weatherstriping. The dealer should have the TSB on file.

Found the same wind noise problem during a test drive. I had previously driven a Silver Crossfire without a hint of wind noise, but when I drove the Red Crossfire I wanted it was pronounced. The Silver Crossfire was a later serial number 9900+ than the Red example and seemed to be much better assembled. Maybe on the later models that had the problem cured.

Default TSB

It is a simple adjustment the dealership can provide. If they need specific information on it, tell them to look up:

TSB Number 23-023-03 Dated October 17, 2003

I have a copy of it in my hand as we speak.

It is not "normal" for the vehicle to have wind noise, however some were just not adjusted properly from the factory. It covers all builds as it is not a defect but an adjustment. I checked to see if my window was going up too high, that is not the case on my car.

Default Wind noise

I went in today to have mine fixed and when thay called back with an update they said that they had followed the instructions in the TSB but where not happy with the results. Had to order a new seal from detroit. I am starting to like my dealer and service department.

Default Two Types of Wind Noise

My understanding, having owned two Crossfires (both with wind noise) is that the TSB is to correct wind noise in the little triangle in the front of the door. It doesn't address wind noise around the seal.

My dealer can't seem to fix it. I'm willing to go to an outside party if anyone can help with an idea.

Yeah, I think the door is not sealed tight enough as you can see water in the doorsill area after carwashing. If water gets in then air can also get in easier causing the wind noise.

Maybe the gaps in the angle are also responsible for the wind noise

Does anyone out there have a Copy of the TSB on Wind Noise that they could share with all of us? I have been to the dealer twice on this issue. The first time they claim to have followed the recommended remedy outlined in the TSB and the second time they replaced the entire drivers side weatherstrip.
I still have wind noise from about 50 mph on up. Maybe if I knew what the recommended fix is in the TSB I could try it myself. The service manual has a very involved proceedure of incrementally applying masking tape to 6 inch stretches of the weatherstrip and test driving the vehicle until the noise is isolated. Is the TSB fix the same as the shop manual?

Rollinlong Look in the TSB Area right below Technical and Modifications.

Legally I can not copy it and show it to you guys. I'm pushing it just by giving you info on it. My suggestion is to let the dealer resolve the issue. You don't want to be responsable if the window shatters. I've already seen 2 cases of this due to improper allignment.

If you still want to give it a shot, PM me. I might be able to help you out personally. Just not posting it to the list.

I think he may be talking about an actual "copy" of the TSB telling what and how it's to be done. :?:
