Faster than times show?

Ok I have read this but can't remember where. Our 0-60 is in about 6.3 for the manual. One reason our cars are that slow to 60 is they shift at 55 which takes .5 seconds. So really we can stay with a car with a slightly faster 0-60 than us to about 55. Add the .5 seconds to shift and we get a slower 0-60 when others shift past 60. When they shift it takes the same .5 seconds then you are back even. i am not saying its ture or anything it may be just dumb but I wanted to see what you all thought of it???

Yeah, I think I read that a few years back, Corvettes changed their gearing to allow 60mph to be hit in 1st gear so that the 0-60 time would be without wasting any time from gear shifts

I like the graph Road and Track displays in their road tests. It clearly shows how shift points affect acceleration. If I'm not mistaken our srt does 60 in second gear. (taken from experience, not R&T)

Re: Faster than times show?

If they sell WOT boxes for our manual cars, then that should take care of the problem.

What is the WOT Box?

The WOT Box is an electronic device that makes WOT shifting easy by reducing your engine's power for a very short timed period while you shift. It allows the synchros in your transmission to mesh easily, reducing the chance of missing a gear and damaging your transmission. If the input shaft on a manual transmission is not allowed to slow down enough it will lock you out of gear time after time. We have developed a solution to the problem by controlling the ignition at the shift point to ease the transition from one gear to another.

The WOT Box momentarily disrupts the engine power long enough for you to make an effortless, fast WOT shift. The result?
  • Lower ETs
  • Reduced chance of missing a gear
  • More consistent, effortless shifts
  • Reduced wear on the transmission
  • Reduced chance of major transmission damage
