How to deal with negative attitudes to my car because they're jealous
 

Hi,

I recently got a Red Crossfire Coupe and Im 19 years old and its an awesome car. Unfortunately in my country, Australia, there is this bogan (Redneck for you americans) mentality where success, signs of wealth, anything like that are frowned upon. Basically people think you're a snob if you have a good car.

So Ive been driving around and the girls give me great looks! The girls love the car and me in it! But the guys, think they are so macho and give the dirtiest looks ever! It really pisses me off! Makes me wanna get rid of the car almost!

How can I be more intimadating to these boneheads? I even got the finger today while I was parking by some tool with piercings in his nose and graffiti on his car! WTF :mad:

Put an image of insult under the spoiler, direct the rear of your Crossfire to their line of sight & raise the spoiler manually!!

you won't like this 'cause its comes from an ole' fart...but, ignoring @ssholes is part of the "growing up" we all have to do in life. When you react back, well you become one of them. Now, that I said that, if you think you can kick their @ss, that works as well.....lol.....

Sell the car, youre to young to deserve it and you sound like a snob:D . JUST KIDDING!!! We all deal with this to some extent. I live in central Missouri where the "bogans" are predominant. Hell if you dont drive a rusty pick up and have all your teeth you wont fit in. Even had one of them toss a rock at my crossfire while I was parked WAY far away from everyone else at work, see my gallery, they just wont get it.
My brother always says,"the best revenge is living well" and my wife says, "don't let them get to you because then they win". Smile, wave back and know your successful and they will be doing the same stuff 15 years from now, perhaps even employed by you:D One suggestion, watch where you park cause thats when the chicken #$@! will do the most damage.

I bought the XF for me, not what others think, but I get a lot more positive comments than negative. Any negative is their problem not mine.

Learn to do J-turns and bootleg-turns (180s forward and back).

I took this evasive driving class, and what the police call EVOC training, and you can do amazing things with the e-brake and the right knowledge.

The reverse 180 is the most fun -- just drive in reverse until you hit about 35 mph, then rapidly turn the wheel one way or the other while putting the clutch in. The front end will rotate around while the car maintains its original vector. Then slam it into first and take off!

That'll smoke 'em!

I'm not an old fart like doc...but he has a point and this is the best way to go...if you go around life wondering what everyone else is thinking about you, you are going to miss life in general...

just enjoy the ladies. if they think you and the car look good, then grow a pair and get her to go for a drive...easy.

If you have impressed the girls then mission accomplished!!! Guys drive cool cars becasue the girls dig em. You have no reason to care what the guys think. Be your own man and do what you want and if the girls like it, all the better.

you knew I was kidding about kicking their @ss, right? Just enjoy life and the girls....I had a Z-28 Camaro at 18, big block Camaro @ 21, Vette's after that...the dirt bags got over it after awhile...but, when the girls mentioned the car...well, they didn't last long either...you'll be fine...move on...

Haha yea man. I'm 19 too man and even some of my friends bad-mouth my car. We're really close so it doesn't bother me but it happens. You will find wherever you go that people will hate you or dislike you just because you are successful and/or own nice things. But you shouldn't care what they think, I sure don't and I've been where you are. Nothing in life has any meaning except the meaning you give it so don't pay attention to any of those hosebag guys and don't let them make you feel bad! Enjoy the car, enjoy the girls, and enjoy life!

The closest thing to a negative comment I have heard was when I told the neighbor I had it up to 98 on the way home from the dealer (been up to 109 since).

He said, "Yea, but it was all OVER the road, right"?

(I thought, "HUH"?)

Anyway, I assured him that it WASN'T all over the road, and that, in fact, I did not KNOW I was doin 98 until I looked down at the speedo! (Cruise control will save me big-time in tickets with this car!)

Ignore the jerks. I have an Alabaster '04 with 19 inch Axis wheels all around, and two custom harleys that I built from the ground up with my own hands.
Someone doesn't like me because I worked for what I have? Too bad..or,
"HEY...did you ever see the size of the trunk in one of these things?...oops, didn't mean for the hatch to drop while you were looking...sorry"

I've been where you are right now, but forget them! When I was 23 I drove a brand new 911 4S. You want to see pissed off ... put a 23yo (who looked 16) in a $80K car zipping around town! I had grandmothers giving me the finger. Then I realized that the only reason that these people were doing this is because they were sad that I was driving something that they felt they wouldn't achieve in a while lifetime. Of course, most also thought that my parents bought it for me - they didn't.

Take your friends out cruising for girls - I assure you that if your car helps them get a little action you will never hear anything bad again!
