My light won't go off...please help

ok im 18 years old and just bought a 2004 candy apple red crossfire coupe with 53k on it. The engine oil light came on and stayed and i took car into dealership today and they just had forgot to change the oil before i bought it so they did. But now the light came on again and the oil was just changed with mobil 1 full synthetic oil. It drives and sounds great no problems but this is bugging me, I know its prolly no big deal but could you please help me.

You should check the level. It sounds like they didn't put enough oil in. The Crossfire takes 8 1/2 quarts. Or it could have a leak.

Try a reset with your steering wheel. Turn your car on then turn the steering wheel all the way to the right and then all the way to the left and then back to normal. After turn the car off take the key out and then put it back in and start it up. If that doesn't work try turn the wheel in the other direction first.

How's that going to fix the oil light.

It does a reset on the car. If the light stays on then you know you have a problem. The dealer told me to do it.

Re: My light wont go off....please help

That is only to reset the BAS/ESP light. It will not help your oil light, or much else.

As mentioned, check your oil level.

Re: My light wont go off....please help

It's for the oil level is low or not getting enough oil.

I agree Mike, never heard of it resetting anything else.

O thanks I was told that it would do all the lights. Stupid dealers thanks for the correction.

If it comes on after going around a corner, then I would say your oil level is low. James

PS It is BLAZE RED.

Our transmisions don't have a dip stick. The only dip stick is for the oil. If the level is low, we have an electronic method for checking it. Consult the Owners Manual. If you don't have one, it can be downloaded from the Chrysler website under "Owners".

My Chrysler: Chrysler Owners Service Manuals - Chrysler Cars, Minivans, SUVs, Convertibles, Crossovers

And if the dealer cheaped out on you and used anything but Mobil1 it may have other issues as well. I'd look into this very carefully-and very soon.

Um, I believe that NO Crossfire has a transmission dipstick. The dipstick is for the engine oil.

I'd let the engine sit for at least a few minutes and then yank the stick out, wipe it off, reinsert it and pull it out again. The oil should be right up to the top of the little plastic baffle-thing.

You can download a copy of the owners manual on this site, somewhere. I grabbed every manual here (they are all in the same post).

You don't. There is an adaptor the dealership uses. There is a thread somewhere for making your own.
