What's the deal with Red?

I hope this isn't as stupid a question as it sounds, but I guess that's part of being a newbie...so here goes~
Is there more than one type of red for the Xfire? I have been seeing "Blaze" and "Inferno", etc - or
is it just a joke I'm too dim to get?

I thought there was a difference. Even though at the dragon I saw 4 reds all looking the same. I dont know they either of them were Blaze or inferno, but all I saw looked the same

Maybe the reds are like the Sapphire Silver Blue, in that in different light they look either really blue or silver...

I wondered if maybe one was metallic and the other not...

I wasn't crazy about the red for years... just not a big fan of red on the crossfire. I saw one the other day and thought it looked really good. The color must be growing on me!

Re: What's the deal with Red?

In 2004 Crossfires were sold in Blaze Red Crystal Pearl Clearcoat. In later models the window sticker reflected Inferno Red Crystal Pearl Clearcoat. The colors are identical. The common paint codes for Crossfire are listed as 591 or PRH. Other common Chrysler paint codes such as RH or ARH are also, I believe, identical. The Blaze/Inferno Crossfire color is a two stage paint process. What adds to the confusion is that there is another Chrysler paint code EL/WEL/PEL that is called Inferno Red Pearl Tricoat which is a slightly different color and uses a three stage paint process. So, in Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep jargon Blaze Red is the same as Inferno Red unless talking about the other Inferno Red (WEL).

Another question would be has anyone ever spotted and photgraphed the actual location of the paint code on a Crossfire and displayed it here for everyone to see? I'm still looking.

Beats me, but I found out the hard way that my Aero Blue coupe is listed as Black in the Florida State Trooper's data base. Maybe next time I'll ask them ... or not.

My 2006 is listed by the mfg as "Blase Red Crystal Pearlcoat". So, I guess that the 2004's were not the only "Blaze" Crossfires. I'm told that the paint code for both "Blaze" and "Inferno" are identical. Whatever the name, Red Rules!!!!! My last three cars have been RED!! Other than for my unpainted DeLorean, Red Rocks! (Hey, forgive the rantings of a 76 year old youngster).

In Plano Texas we lined several of them up at the Cars and Coffee last August. Found no difference between the Inferno red and the Blaze red. Our study was very scientific with alcohol sterilizations the night before and everything.

Yes, the lighting does make a difference. But, side by side in the same light they appear to be the same.

As far as the difference in the two red colors of Crossfire, I think Police across the country will try to catch either color in their Radar, as I slither by in my Black Limited Coupe!:p :p

There is no difference between Blaze and Inferno reds. However, the 2008 red SE roadsters ARE a deeper red and less orange than Blaze/Inferno. I don't know what red they call them.

We all know a good red matures with age :D

Interestingly I'ved noticed lately that a number of people have commented (positively) on the colour of my Blaze Red Crossfire

I'm like 93.47% certain I've seen a red Crossfire coupe that didn't have any metallic or crystal pearl characteristics......it was just a solid red color??????? & I have seen several others that do have the crystal pearl effect????

I was told that the paint code is located somewhere under the hood, not on the door pillar like "normal" cars. I still haven't bothered to look since it seems that the local Chrysler dealers here in Ohio don't seem to be able to order touchup paint due to a supply issue. A few more stone chips and I'll have a "primer grey" Crossfire.

I had the same alcohol filters as Franc and I really didn't notice a difference in the red. The red color, from my experiences, will vary depending on how the light reflects off of it. Either way, red simply rocks.
