effing swell.
this one wasn't as bad, though.

I thought the speed limit was 55 though

That Sucks. Going 20mph above the limit, I doubt that you would be able to slow down enough to not get a ticket even if you had a radar detector.

I've gone 140 in a 60.

traffic school.....insurance........my son had to learn the hard way....3 in 2 yrs...23 yr old college grad...and I have to carry him on my policy because if they catch it, he won't have any insurance...speeding isn't all about citations and fines....its about risk, and insurance companies today will cancel you....no insurance, no driving...slow down...

I just got done playing with a Porsche Carrera S vert. that I had to fix and reinstall a(very expensive)Caliber K40 radar system in because the customer complained that it doesn't work. Why does he say this............probably because he just got a speeding ticket and his radar never made a sound. I have no radar gun to test the system and as I was pulling the car out of the shop I noticed my manager talking to a police officer friend in her cruiser..............what luck!! I then drove up in the Porsche(never having met the officer) and proceeded to ask "can you put your radar on me?". lol She laughed at first, but then after my explaining the situation we pulled around back and she hit the car with the radar several times. Can you guess what the car did? It started flashing the LED lights and verbally warning me that it sensed radar in both the front and rear sensors. Now the customer can take his BS, his car and his ticket somewhere else.

PS Sorry about the rant.........I"m just sick of stupidly picky Porsche owners and their illigetimate(sp) complaints.

Ya gotta pay better attention than that!

I speed all the time, but then, in a way, I don't - the key is to know where you can and where you can't - get away with it.

Just make sure you get a QUALITY detector and not a Walmart/Radio Shack special.
When I was younger I spent hundreds on cheap detectors. Finally wised up and started paying hundreds on a single quality detector. And like Pizzaguy I know when and when not to speed.
Have been "lucky" for years and years (knock on wood).

Hope that I didn't jinks myself!

The "instant-on" radar is going to nail you. If you're passing everyone on the road, it's like painting a target on the side of your car.

Amazon.com: Stay Safe on the Road with Escort and Beltronics Radar Detectors

It's kind of like the "Ring Toss" at the county fair-keep playing until you can get something you can give to your girlfriend that she will like.

Don't skimp, it's not worth it!

2 in a week? Dang!

Nice and a good price.

Really good reading:

A couple months ago I bought the 9500ix and it's already saved me from 1 definite (and another possible) ticket so it's paid for itself already

Thumbs up Re: Time To Invest In A Radar..

Quick - get a VALENTINE V1! My wife has one in her Z4, and I in my SSB Roadster.
Not Cheap (~$400 per copy) - but they have paid for themselves many times over!

True, will not display 'Instant-On' radar - - unless the car in front of you is zapped first.

and if you pay attn, and use traffic in your favor, you can get away with it....no going to go a huge rant here, but most speeders I have arrested in my 30 yrs weren't paying attn....we are there, you don't see us, 'cause you aren't looking

The places I pick to go really fast are few and far between, and I have been through them many times at the legal limit and never have seen troopers. Could it still happen - sure. The other advice is to find a fast "bear bait" and follow a quarter mile behind, stay in the right lane and signal all passing moves as if you were driving the speed limit, and drive fast but at a speed where a fast tap of the brakes brings you down to legal speed range. Having the detector on all the time to learn where the false alerts and traps are also helps in driving wisely. There's a section of I96 near Grand Ledge MI where they have laser -- no chance to duck that when it hits you. So I always slow down to 5 over through there. And the V1 is a great unit, but I find my Bel 965 to be almost as good for $200. The slight range improvement and the directional warnings were not worth the premium to me.
