Sorry but i've done a terrible thing?

Put my name down and paid my deposit today for a new R171 350SLK with 7 speed Auto. Due end of 2004.

I had hoped the convertable crossfire would have had more to offer but still no decent upgrades or options. You should see what the SLK has to offer, its leagues ahead of the game.

At least I get a proper trip computer as standard now!!

I'll enjoy the Crossfire none the less in the meantime.

I forgive you :)....... Sounds like you've ordered an awesome car!

SLK55 certainly is a stormer but likely to be around 50K, so it should be. Thanks for the pics and glad to know I,m forgiven.

This is what I'm likely to trade my xfire for.

Give me that interior in the Crossfire and I'd have the perfect car. Mind you we might get it in 6 or 7 years when Merc gives us their left overs.

Right now the current SLK is about $56k with some options. From the looks of the new SLK55 I'm figuring close to $60k with options. Only because, it now has a V8 versus a V6 and navigation system standard. Also with the new 7 speed transmission on the SLK55, it'll be a monster on the freeway, long ass legs to romp you (even if you had the supercharged Xfire).

I still can't wait to see how the Xfire SRT will look. It'll be the better value.

EVS Motors,

A very sharp looking car and goes like a bat out of h***. It'll run rings around a Xfire for sure, but your comparing apples with oranges. The Xfire is still the better looking of the two, IMO. Anyway, I'll never be able to afford one, so I'm happy just to have #2815. :D :D :D :D

Mark Uk, you hit the nail on the head, I prefer the look of the Crossfire from the outside but its the dated interior, steering, gearbox and engine that lets it down.

I bet if they stick with the Crossfire by the 2nd generation maybe in 3 years+ time, the new Mercedes Engines, geraboxes and interiors will start to come through.

Hoper they do as i'd come back to the Crossfire with no hestitation.

I wouldn't say that the interior is dated. Its simple and classy. I like new technology, so I would just say that its missing Bluetooth, Navigation, Trip Computer, DVD Audio, steering wheel controls, etc. But the interior is nice and elegant.
