Fob works but car won't unlock or start

Hey guys I need some help. I'm away at school in Fairfield, CT and I went out to use my car this morning but the fob wouldn't unlock the car. I proceeded to use the key to unlock the door and the alarm went off. I tried to start the car with the alarm going off, the car started and then immediately shut off. I know my fob is working becuase the light on the fob is blinking when i press the lock/unlock button but the car doesn't unlock or do anything. My first thought was the battery in the car was dead, but i have a battery bug on it and it reads that the battery still has 50% life left in it.I have also changed the batteries in the fob and reprogrammed it with no luck either. I'm starting to to think that the issue is with the car itself now. Any help would be appreciated.
