I purchased a 2005 XF Coupe this past Saturday. It's the base model 6 speed black. I paid $9500. It has 48k miles and the tires are fairly new. I drove it home from Missouri and got about 29 mpg. My previous ride (now my son's) was a 2007 Scion tc.

I have been lurking here for the past two weeks, while considering this purchase. The XF is super-fun to drive, and I'm already getting the perma-grin.

I think that is a pretty good buy.

A 6 speed black or red Coupe is just what I need... but can't financially justify. Guess the little red roadster will have to be enough.

Welcome KBoyd, Where's home? I drove 18hrs. (round trip) to buy mine.
I've been watching for a Base model for some time now. Just haven't found the right one yet. These things are like "Lays" potato chips, nobody's satisfied with just one.

+fireamx -- Home is Mansfield, Ark., which is 30 miles south of Fort Smith, Ark. I only had a 7 hour (round trip) to get mine.

Thanks for the warm welcome, guys & gals.

Welcome to the Forum KBoyd! You'll soon find both the Crossfire AND this forum to be addictive.. in a good way. I've had two XFs and never had a minute's trouble from either. Enjoy the ride!

I've had mine almost 3 years with only the relay control module as a problem. A quick solder job ( by Tighed1) and problem was solved. I've had more problems with other cars in less time so I'm satisfied. Wait till you get it on the racetrack like we did this June, satisfaction increases greatly even though I'm not good at it. Welcome to the forum.

Welcome aboard.
People always seem to ask if what they paid was a good or fair price. You just got a great car built by Karmann using Mercedes Benz parts, thats only several years old, your going to love it...

Mike, we share the same birthday, Oct. 11. I'm five years younger, being born in 1961.

Always a good time meeting others who share the same interest in cars.

Great buy! I live on the Big Island of Hawaii, and thought I had found a good deal on a Black base model, automatic, (with twice as many miles on it) for $10K. I go to pick it up this Friday, and drive it from Hilo to Kona where I live (about a 2 hour drive). Slim pickin's on the Island, looks like you got a great deal! Have fun!

Don't base cars only come with 6 speeds?
