Anyone drive xfires with both and can give a description of difference in feel?

 

My first Xfire (9599) had the Michelins and I'm now driving on the Contis. My general impression is that the Michelins gave a more solid feeling of connection to the pavement and I never had any problem with adhesion in the rain. I haven't had the opportunity to drive on the Contis in wet conditions, so unable to comment as yet. One sollid plus for the Contis: based upon the treadwear ratings, you can expect them to deliver approximately 60% more mileage than the Michelins.

 

Rough weather here the past two days. Rain turned to snow, snow melted as fast as it hit the highway.
Never slipped once on the Contis, Ran up to 80MPH+
(Passport Solo) on a wet and puddling toll road close to home. Amazing grip. I never thought there was a tire as good as a Michelin, But I'm convinced now.

 

I have the Michelins and have done quite a bit of research on them. Definately a world class tire. They are glued to the asphalt. The car feels wonderfully planted during manuveers. I've had mine to 145 and the car feels good. Absolutely god awful in snow though. I don't take the car on the road in the winter, but I moved it into the driveway to clean the garage. There was about an inch of snow on the pavement, and I thought I was going to get stuck!

Been to see mine this afternoon and its riding on Pirellis - is this a UK/EU thing ???

If you indeed have Pirellis I would contact your dealer. The only OEM tires for the Crossfire for the UK are the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2's. The Roadsters have the ContiSportContact 2. Sounds like they swapped them for cheaper tires and kept the money. Thanks. :? :x

 

Thanks for the info. I have contacted them this morning, and it will be on the Michelin Pilots for delivery on Monday.

 

Every car at the dealers I saw had the $185 optional ASP tires, which I think are the Continental Contact-2's. Having experienced Pilot Sports on my Viper and Pilot Sport A/S on my 300M, they were the tires of preference. Unfortunately, no luck for me. I test drove a coupe with the ASP's, and got caught in a rainstorm and experienced some serious hydroplaning. I haven't been caught in heavy rain in my car yet, but if the Conti's repeat that hydroplaning experience, I'm afraid Pilot Sports are going to be in my future.

 

The optional all season tires are continential contitouring... or something to that effect. The conticontact tires are not all seasons and are found on some 05 crossfires in place of the pilots.
