Battery Disconnect Observations
Caught a warm spell in NY over the weekend and decided to hook up the quick disconnect cable to my battery leads for the Battery Tender.
I had the battery cables off and on a few times while I cleaned up the dirty posts/leads for final assembly. I noticed that whenever the battery was re-connected, I had to turn the ingition key on/off three (3) times before the starter would engage and the engine would kick over (Manual Transmission). I was wondering if this was normal to reset the electronics or the ignition key assembly. The Battery Tender works fine, after initial charge, the indicator lite went Green for the float charge. And the engine turns over normal now... |

Re: Battery Disconnect Observations
Disconnecting that battery does some spooky sh!t. One of the major mags doing road test had a test car with a bad battery connections and it did some really wild stuff during the test as the computer kept getting confused. It was Motor Trend or another really high circulation periodical. Naturally they panned our lovable vehicles. That must have really screwed up sales. My dealer had put three batteries and a new alternator in my SRT before they discovered the connection problem.
