Default Acellerator Woez

'04 coupe. Getting a P0122 and have all of the instructions for removing pedal and checking out on the bench. Got the plastic cover off and there endeth the ease.
Get 10 mm socket on nut. Is hard to turn but does. And turns and turns and turns but does not come loose. Soaking with PB Blaster but looks shiny. I suspect the stud has come loose and is just spinning.
OK so how do I get to the other end ? Seems to be under the floorboards but are all sort of things in the way. Is there a trick ? Suggestions welcome.
Am getting suspicious that PO worked onnit with a crowbar.

OK after a few hours the PB Blaster did something and lower nut is off. However "something " is holding accelerator assembly to floor, is not just pulling off. What am I missing please ? I have been told the upper nut is not there but (4. Lift pedal off the welded stud...) is just not working. Help please.

You have to remove the washer for the nut also.

Is there something unusual about the washer ? It feels like the pedal comes up off the stud for a ways and stops. The nut had an attached washer.
Thank you for reponding.

It doesn't allow enough room for the pedal to move enough to get out.

Is getting absurd. Used strong magnet and got second washer out, pedal now off.

Latest issue is removal of connector. Have tried every which way but not loose. Looks like should press ends and lift up but doesn't , any suggestions ? Do not want to break.

It’s been a while since I replaced mine so I can’t remember how exactly to remove the connector. However here are some pictures of the pedal that I replaced, maybe it will help to see where the latches are.

Ears on both short sides then. May just not able to squeeze hard enough. Will keep trying. Thank you.

Well got the pedal off with one casualty (see pic), ziptie moment ? No-one (including service manual mentioned the second connector (lower arrow) , anyone know what it is ?

ps 2nd connector seems to be a momentary contact when accelerator is floored. Kickdown switch ?

If you have an automatic transmission then yes, it’s the kick down.
