po442 code with check engine light on

Tried searching with no luck. Checked gas cap for tightness. Not sure what to check next. My OBD11 meter won't let me delete a code. Should I just disconnect the battery and see if CEL comes on. The light just came on today after a drive on the freeway. Car has run great for many months.

code PO442 is EVAP emission control system leak (small)

code PO442

Look in the repair manual for the complete system and check all the connections on the hoses.

Re: po442 code with check engine light on

:o Today I disconnected the battery's negative terminal and then reconnected after ten seconds. Restarted and check eng. light still on. hooked up OBD meter and was able to erase the PO442 code.

Restarted and check engine still on. Decided to look around at various hose connections and took off my cold air induction hose and air filter to check around the intake area. Everything looked fine so I reconnected the CAI and tightened its clamp back down.

Decided to put the Crossfire back into the garage and when I started the car the check engine light was gone. Decided to wait and see if the next time I drive it, the light comes back on. Hoping this was just a one time freak occurrence. (Update: Three days of city driving and no check engine light!) Must have been a fluke?
