Default What oddball parts do you wish were available?

First, this is NOT a sale or request thread, don't ask!

It's intent is to determine what parts have people looked for or desire to be more available. From major to minor, coupe, roadster, SRT, doesn't matter, what is important to you?

99% of the yards won't even attempt to pull a non major component, it is too expensive for them, so what have you found difficult to find?

Not talking about collectables, but actual parts. Also, please no discussion on what Chrysler should or should not have done.

If your reading this, you had to look for something at some point, so take a minute and make a post!

OEM Crossfire security cover for coupe.
I think a good imitatation can be made from the Magnum cover. I started a thread once. I got my OEM cover but everyone slowly lost interest, so I did as well.

Caps for the windshield wiper posts
Available at Chrysler dealers, $5. They are used by other car makers, that's why they are stolen.

A replacement cap for the oil filter housing
Available on eBay for $50 with filter installed and stem with O-rings or just the cap for $25.
Oil Filter Cap Mercedes Benz SLK320 C220 C230 C280 C36 | eBay

Lenses (only) for the license plate lights
I did a drawing once, not OEM but keeps them dry.

The "special" tool
I have made a drawing of it as well.

Both drawings are on the forum and in my albums.

  • The stupid little tab that the glove box strap attaches to on the top in a 2004. It's currently residing somewhere in my center console never to be found again.
  • The clips that hold on the inside rear quarter panel trim.
  • I have one already but people seem to be consistently looking for the bin replacement for the cupholder.
  • The back piece of the silver door pull, would need to be seperated from the door panel but it would be nice to be able to buy just that piece.
  • The light control switch and the turn signal stalk.
  • Finally, that little blue valve part that can help with the P0410 code
Good luck MrMopar, I hope this plan you have comes to fruition.

What blue valve part?

Other stuff should not be a problem. Keep it up, good suggestions!

Door pulls are huge... not separately serviceable from the door panel, but most are suffering from the razor-sharp flashing on the back.

My Limited had a rough passenger pull... my SRT has a raspy driver's side pull.

Not sure how we could retro-engineer these, but maybe we could rip them out of the worthless "gray two-tone" door panels and refinish them?

I keed, I keeeed....

2004 auto dimming rear viewmirror.

it's out there, i know. but only for $200 on ebay. i really need a replacement and refuse to go anything but OEM (call me crazy, i know). i keep thinking a salvage car will pop up but none are 2004. It's not so much that it's not AVAILABLE, just not practically available. :/

This little sucker, the last time I changed it it took forever to get the right part from a dealership. In fact having any and all parts needed to fix the P0410 problem would make the the new messiah of this forum

John, following James1549 instructions I smoothed out the rough one on my 6 with a fine grit foam sandpaper block. It conforms to the surface and slowly removed the sharp edges. You can feel where the plating is missing but cannot see it of course.

This inner part is lightly glued in position and may have a retainer at the back as well. You could take one of the old car quite easily by removing the door panel. Both of them on my NA were as smooth as a baby's bum.

  • See the latest post, a Saturn bin can be used with a mod to the console, less than $10 each.
  • The back piece of the silver door pull, would need to be seperated from the door panel but it would be nice to be able to buy just that piece.
  • This can be ordered separately or repaired, see my previous post here.
  • Finally, that little blue valve part that can help with the P0410 code.
  • Get it from Mercedes, cheaper.

I would like to see a reasonable price for a copy of the Startech front and rear spoilers.

I beg to differ that the rear of the door pull can be ordered seperately, try telling that to an idiot at a parts counter who has never worked on a Crossfire. As for the bin, the real deals are out there it would just be nice to have one place to go for them. The man is trying to help us all out by setting something up where we can get parts easily and not waste our time on ebay, modifying parts from other cars and arguing with Mercedes dealerships about part numbers. Let's stop shitting on the idea and give some suggestions.

Headlight covers. George Laurie has made awesome plastic parts for thousands of happy motorists. Somebody should contact him about reproducing. He says over and over "all I need is a perfect sample".

I used that aluminum furnace tape to cover up the peeling finish on the back of the handle, it was quite sharp. You can't see it from the front.

The round rubber caps on the back of the headlights (2/side).

My Chrysler dealer says they are not sold seperately from the headlight assembly.

They come in the kit to reduce headlight condensation. I only show half the kit in this photo. They replace the white vents shown that came as OEM on earlier headlights. The cap on the right is replaced by the cap on the left. I'm sure if you looked you could find a suitable cap somewhere else.
