Matte black limited wrap

A few weeks ago I saw pictures on the forum of a matte black wrap on a limited. I looked and looked through the gallery with no luck. Does anyone know whose car this is?

I used plasti-dip on my rims, emblems, grill, door handles and strakes.

Its pretty much a wrap. It just peels off.

I think Beaner has the Gray one and I can't remember who has the red one. Both look great!

Beaner knows, but he is away from a connection to the site.

Thanks for the info guys! I got some of the information I needed from a guy I met at the bar last night. I have read a lot about wraps but i recently came across an article stating that different colors last longer along with finishes and also require different care. He couldn't help me out with matte tho he has yet to do one. I would hate to pay the money for one and have it last a month my car is subject to rain hot tempetures frost and possibly snow. Hell with the weather we have anymore all in the same week!

This is what I did to my car:

https://www.crossfireforum.org/galle.../IMG_0188s.JPG

https://www.crossfireforum.org/galle.../IMG_0195s.JPG

It's a 3M matte black film that Meguiar's markets under the Wraptivo brand. I wrapped the side strakes, windshield surround, grille inserts, door handles and the chrome Chrysler wing logos front and rear, plus the slasher stripes. The roll hoops were problematic as the very tight contour precluded a flat application of the film. I now plan on spraying them with Plasti-Dip; I've done part of the engine cover with that and it's holding up beautifully!!

On my daily driver I have a much thicker film that mimics brushed titanium. When I say "thicker" I mean that the non textured film like the matte black on the Crossfire is 4 mils thick while the texture films (carbon fiber, brushed metals, wood grain) are 8 mils thick. That also makes them much more difficult to work with when dealing with tight, compound curves on some panels.

So far the care and feeding of the film has been very straightforward. Now, it's only been on the Crossfire for a few months, but it's been on my daily driver for almost 2 years now. I wash it regularly and apply Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax (spray on, wipe off) and it looks as good today as it did two years ago. Then again, I live in SoCal so I don't get heavy rain or snow, but I do get lots of sunshine and heat. Not a problem thus far.

We've got a Honda CR-Z at work that is fully wrapped in flat black and it travels to shows all over the place. Still looks great two years on. Other employee cars have partial wraps, mostly in the textured materials, and they all still look great a year or more after installation. I don't know if the matte materials require any significantly different care than the textured films do, but the textured films have a tendency to want to return to a flat profile, so if you wrap them onto a tight concave surface (think the recessed areas in the Chrysler wing logos, for example) they will want to pull away from the low spot. This is generally resolved with an application of a primer fluid (3M primer 94 is preferred, and lots of people sell it on ebay) to secure it down.

Removal of the film after a period of time is usually pretty straight forward: apply some heat and start pulling. If you have good, healthy factory paint under the film it shouldn't pose any problems. If you have a respray, however, don't be shocked if removal of the film causes some lifting of the paint. In most cases it won't, but aftermarket paint jobs vary in quality and some will let go under the stress of film removal.

That's the lip spoiler from a Seat Cupra R as discussed in https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...-phat-lip.html

H82BL8 got his at oemplus.com here in SoCal but I searched the part number and practically stole the last one that a local going-out-of-busness VW tuner shop had in stock. Install was pretty simple and H82BL8 gives all the details in that thread.

Yep, TSW Doningtons.

Fronts are 18x8 with 32 offset
Rears are 19x9.5 with 40 offset and I'm running a 10mm spacer in the back.
Bolt pattern is 5x112

You don't want to know what I got mine for ;)

Hopefully this one works, otherwise searching Plasti-Dip finished will probably pull it up.

I had my car wrapped in Matte Black. I am very happy with the outcome. It took the company 3 days to wrap it. Everything could be wrapped except the grill, the side mirrors and the side fins. They had to actually paint those parts. Feel free to message me if you have any questions. The car gets a lot of looks.

I took this at a car show a couple of weeks ago, I can't remember the name of the company. The guy working the booth said it cost about $2500 to do the whole car.
