Unhappy Audible Beep at 73 mph

Strange thing happened today on my 2004 Crossfire - when I go over 73 mph a constant beep beep occurs until I go back below under 73 mph. I don't see anything about this in the owners manual. No other warning lights come on. Help? The only recent work done on the car was an oil change.

Does you wing deploy normally? Is the LED on the dash button flash too?

The wing was up and deployed normally. No other warning lights were on.

I don't know how long you have had the car, but did the previous owner have a Speed limit/Camera detector fitted?

These can beep once you have exceeded speed limits on certain roads.

I have been the owner the whole time and bought the car brand new.

You have posted this in the Roadster section yet your avatar picture indicates you have a coupe. If you have a roadster could this be related to a "top" problem ?

I think someone was playing around with the computer settings in the car. I was told there is a setting they can turn on or off which will beep when exceeding 120km/h (~74mph). With my not so good driving record I was very interested in having this turned on.

Has your car been "pluged in" at the dealer... maybe they accidently changed it. If a place can change your display from Miles to KM they have the ability to turn on that function

Thanks. Perhaps the dealer did this when they reset the oil indicator. Also, sorry I posted this thread in the roadster section by mistake.

Beaner is right on. Where ever you had the oil changed they had a DRB III on your system. They probably used it to reset your mileage back to 7000 so you'll know when your next oil change is required. They can also check the mil spec. to see if you'e used the suggested oils etc. before.
The beep on/off falls under the Customer Preference screen. You will not be able to remove the beep until you re-hook a DRB III back onto your system & click the command OFF on the C/P screen. I clicked mine on once just to try it & at exactly 75 MPH it started to beep just like it does if you open your car door when your ready to leave your car but you forgot to remove the key from the ign. Drop back to 74 MPH or below & the beep is gone until reaching 75 again. It does get your attention. Big Brother is Watching!!!

I was going to add to this! That is the fix.... if you get a dealership that has no clue what they are doing like i did, they will replace the gauge cluster and top dash section.... Speedo for the beep, and Dash for wrecking the first one getting to the cluster. Good ole dealership

I provided a copy of the results of this thread to the dealership and they fixed the customers preferences code today. Many thanks
