Default Racing Seats Installed...Finally

I have had a set of Bomz Racing Seats in storage for a few years waiting for a vehicle worth putting them in.... About 15 hours of labor later I got them in.. My phone was dead or I would have posted a how to with pictures, originally my thinking at least. It went from a easy no problem plan to coming up with a plan B and executing it not knowing whether it would work or not, on the spot.

Originally I wanted to take the stock tracks off of the stock seats and fabricate cross braces because the aftermarket rails are only 14" wide while the stock tracks are 17" wide. As soon as I took out the stock passenger seat I quickly realized this was impossible without making everything a ton more difficult. So what I ended up doing was fabricating brackets completely from scratch. I took 4 flatbars, 1"x1/8"x3' and went from the rear stock mounts to the front and cross braces between those. Overall it was 32 holes drilled (I could have eliminated 8 with a welder). It has the support I wanted but is sitting about 1/2" higher than stock and I am 6'1", luckily it has spacers I didnt see originally between the seats and the rails that are 3/4", so I will be taking those out this weekend. The lumbar support was really weird feeling at first (never had it), but the weirdest thing is definately the high angle at the front. If you raise your seat all the way and angle it all the way high in the front thats what it feels like. Different but not bad. The Passenger seat gained alot of leg room, its actually amazing how comfortable it is, I showed my step-dad and he just sat there for 15 min. I also wired the stock seat belt latch and harness to the seat but cut all the wires for the heating element etc from the stock seats. No lights or anything, its all perfect. Anyone who wants to undertake this mission can PM me and I can provide some pointers but anyway here is a pic:

Almost forgot the biggest detail..... I read that the stock seats were about 48lbs and the Bomz seats were 16.... The stock passenger seat may have been 48 but the driver was craaazzzzyyyyyyyyy heavy compared to the passenger, the extra motor and wiring Im sure. Anyway, I saved more than 60lbs total doing this.

That and the fact that leather is easy to clean were the reasons I put off doing it for so long.
