Re: New Coastie
Do you know why coasties are called broom stick Sailers? Because, they know it's time to turn back to shore when they can't touch bottom with a broom stick! :p Retired Navy myself, with many coast guard friends. So, I have plenty of puddle pirate jokes.
Congrats, and thank you for your support of our country. |
Re: New Coastie
The C.Guard has to do all kinds of rescue. One of my friends took his daughter (8 months pregnet) and her husband in the channels west of So. Padre and broke down with his boat. They called 911 and they contacted the CG who sent in a rescue boat but the water was to shallow for their keel so then they called for a chopper from Corpus and the chopper dropped a tag line and hauled their butt 6 miles to the boat dock. Wonder how much that cost the government? Good luck and the CG services are needed in this area.

Re: New Coastie
My son is the Coast Guard. BM2 stationed in Jacksonville on a 47' patrol boat. He did 5 years out of St. Petersburg FL. on the Joshua Applebee (buoy tender) Loved every minute of it. Good Luck - it is a good career - if that is what you decide to do. Congratulations.

Re: New Coastie
Congrats Kris, I thought you said you were going to be assigned to the 7th District in Florida.
So now you are assigned to the Engineering Division. Did you decide to go FN instead of SN? |
