Default More Air Bag Questions --- Sorry

I got a 01 code which means the control Module is faulty. Not sure if it can just be reprogrammed or if I need a new one. I am thinking about replacing it.

My question is this.... where is the air bag control module located? Center console? Under the seat? Also, can it be reprogrammed without having to remove it?

Sorry about all the questions. Just trying to avoid the dealership. Every time they touch my car they break something. Just trying to avoid having these guys get in my car or touch my car.

Thanks

Gee, I almost remember saying you could replace that for $100 and it was located on the center transmission hump, under the console (near the shifter).

But perhaps I dreamt that

No reprogram necessary, IIRC

That is going to be a beach! Why couldn't they put it in a better spot? Something easier to access. Can the original be reprogrammed without having to take apart the console?

My apology for asking the question twice. I remember you sending me the link to the part but forgot the location. I think I even sent you a PM but never got a response back.

The original is like any other sensor, when they go bad it normally means there's a fault/short in the internals. Replacement is generally the only option, unfortunately. I agree, it's a sumbeech.

No big deal. I responded on 4/5 @ 10:01 with the following:

LOL no worries on the Bentley crap, we're just messing with ya.

The airbag module is on the transmission hump, under the console. Should be a pretty straightforward swap (do get a second opinion though... you might call Rudy at Speedriven).

As for safety, unplug the battery and wait ten minutes for the capacitors to discharge and you should be golden

I appreciate the PM response. Not sure why I didn't see it! But let's not go down that Bentley road again. I just think there are a few lines that the Crossfire shares with the Bentley. It is just my opinion and I am entitled to that. It is not fair to be attacked for that.

Right now I just want to get the airbag problem fixed. It may take me a couple weeks because I have other things going on right now. A friend also offered to check it out for me (and he knows what he is doing) so I will see what he says before I start pulling the console off. I just don't want the dealership touching my car. I don't trust them, they will probably give me a price of 2K to fix it (they want 100 dollars just to read the code) and every time they touch my car they break something. I will let you know what I find out....

***** that sux. my 5* dealer bends over bassackwards to make sure I've had a very positive experience. sergio even has this new, detailed customer satisfaction survey emailed out to "us kinda folks." sorry about your travails blackcross. maybe you can flatbed your car to my dealer or rudy, et al can intervene on your behalf. my console was taken apart for a minor fix and you'd never know someone even breathed on it.

7 years with my car and lots of dealership fixes. I don't even know where to begin. All the classic issues and a few extras. The dealerships I went to always broke something that required another visit back. Nothing but a nightmare.
