Confession and Tire Sensors

Confession is a good thing, so don't laugh at me too much here.

I never checked the tire pressure on my new Crossfire.

After owning the car for three months the Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) light came ON. The really embarassing part is that I have a truly nifty digital tire pressure guage that works perfectly and can be read day or night.

I was starting on a short trip and so stopped at the gas station to use the air. The tires were cool and the drive very short to the station. Here is what I discovered.
All four tires were low and at 28 psi the tires looked normal not low.

I filled them to spec all around and the light has been off ever since.

    Lessons Learned:

      Hi SeaXfire,

Had the same experience the other day....all four tires 3 lbs low and the light came on ;-)

The low sidewall on the Xfires wheels makes it also very stiff, which is the main reason to have a low side wall, aside from "it looks just cool".

But that also makes it hard to tell if a few pounds of pressure are missing ;-)

      I agree...lesson learned...check often :-)

I'm guilty as well... two weeks after taking delivery, not ever read the manual, driving to work, see this little stupid light come on... DAMN problems already !!!

Pulled over and had to flip through the manual to even realize what the darn light was for...

YUP. Stupid me... 28psi on the left front set it off... How the hell do they make a light come on when the tire pressure drops... That's my question ...
