Well now... I guess I can look for an "Off Road Use Only" sticker under the hood when BEGi gets done with things.. LOL.

Okay, I have a dumb question. If I remember correctly the cats are welded and integral to the exhaust system. How do you get them off... Saw or torch? What about the stainless steel tubes to replace them? This doesn't sound like something that can be done at home

AHHHH there is another way, shopvac and a long metal pipe ( like 1/2" ) and you can core the core, cracking it and vacuum out the shards, with dust mask and good ventilation. 45 minutes after the exhaust bolts and sections are separated. Less fuss and muss and no $$ COSTS. Weeeeeee

Sawzall was used at the muffler shop.

I removed the rear cats today on my N/A limited crossfire. I dont really noticed any robust noise from the exhaust . It seems very similar to having the cats on. I still have my stock muffler on too. I kept my cats too.

If someone wants to do this and doesnt want to hack up their pipes, I have a set of front pipes from my car with about 18k miles on them I will sell for cheap if you come pick them up.

I did the same with my coupe. Removed rear cats + I have a Megan Racing M-RS muffler installed. It. Is. LOUD. I really like it, but I have to drive like a grandma in my neighborhood and anywhere near the police. My dad (ex cop) tells me every time he sees me that he's amazed I don't get pulled over every single day. lol. Anyway, I got it done for $35. Just straight piped the rear two.

Great thread, I'm planning on eliminating my rear catalytic converters as well.

Question though, my friend claims eliminating them will boost MPG, anyone experience better gas mileage after eliminating them?

with the cats off, you will be polluting the air more, have unchanged fuel economy and way better sound w/o drone
