Re: 0w-40

The one closest to me doesn't carry 0w-40 at all. This one that now has the 5.1 qt jug has always had the 1 qt ....which is now $6.97. Maybe more & more Walmarts will start having the 5.1. AT Advance, Autozone and Oreilly's......regular price is $8.99/ qt.

1 qt is all I've found, per online this morning, the two stores closest to me now show it available in store. Going to have to check this one out.

Re: 0w-40

;) I have been tracking this here as well, a few weeks ago I saw ONE bottle of the 5+ QT size and asked if it was a error and a clearance item. The answer was no, so I went on (having a lot of those sales at autozone last year I have 5 oil changes in storage). The other day I see them re inventorying the oil area and studied the shelf diagram, and WOOOHOOO I see the 0W-40 spot, and the reg price is $24.95! So, it is coming but given I have 5 yrs worth (I don't drive her 7000+ a yr) I hope they still have it in 5 yrs (or I drive her a lot more thereby changing sooner). I say Yeah Babyyyy! ;)

Just bought some 0-40 at Wallyworld in Oklahoma City, $27.06 out-the-door.
Just a suggestion: If you find it in you city, post the name of the city.

Perhaps some of you guys finding 5 quart jugs of the stuff could post some on ebay?
Make five bucks off the sale and still save the rest of us some money...
just an idea but it sounds like a win win to me

By the time you add shipping.. think win-win is done. Local pickup only?:p

Re: 0w-40

27.06 out the door, for 7$ a quart where I live, thats buying from walmart.
thats 38$ out the door for the single quarts
Sell the 5 gal jug for.... 35? 6ish dollars for standard shipping, thats 2 dollars profit for 3 dollars savings,
Yeah it would be tight to ship it, make money off it, and still be cheaper than the single quarts...
Doesn't look like its really worth it.
I guess I will just have to wait for walmart to step up their game :/

Driving less since I retired 12-31-12......mpg has dropped from 25 to about 22.....more short trips....more getting on it.....more fun.

40 quarts & 5 Mann filters in basement should last awhile.

Fred at 88K, Wilma at 18K miles. I guess the combo puts me in the Over 100K club.

Re: 0w-40

;) Sure is some nice free advertising here lately for wallyworld! Really, it is a great thing having this at wallyworld, it is much much more reasonable than buying the oil elsewhere. Just the dang filters now need to be a little less expensive. I cannot wait to see how the Mobil1 oil filter is holding up, I have the yearly oil change coming in July (I think, have to check the logbook) and this last time I used the M1 oil filter that came with the advance auto specials I bought a while back. The M1 filter went on real good, absolutely no issues at all compared to the fram filters of past. Anyway, I realize those 20 dollar M1 filters that came with the advance auto specials ($29.99 per 5.1qt and M1 filter & the later $32.00 per 5.1qt & M1 filter) just might be the better deal still if that M1 oil filter holds up really well. The retail for that M1 filter was $19.95 so, even though the wallyworld 5.1qt is @ 25 bucks, the M1 filter makes it a little more attractive if they (advance) includes it. I know many like the fleece one but personally I think the fleece one is just fleecing (pun intended) everyone. ;)

Re: 0w-40

I called around to a number of Walmarts and pretty much all of them were sold out of the 0W-40.. checked some circulars online and saw that Autozone had a deal for $33.99 for 5 quarts plus a filter.. the catch being they'd only cover up to $13 for the filter (so you pay the difference)... so basically 5 quarts of 0w-40 plus the Mobil 1 filter cost about $40. I bought 10 quarts and 2 filters so the next oil change I'll be able to just buy the $25 jugs from Walmart

I had to pull my Crossfire out of storage early and, since I already had the day off, just decided to change the oil that day and didn't want to wait around for an online order... we'll see how the Mobil 1 filter holds up!

Re: 0w-40

I think if you're going with one of those "Oil Change " specials at Advance (etc),.....the best way to do that is buy the deal with the M-1 filter included........pay for it.......turn around & RETURN the M1 filter for a credit.......then if the store doesn't have the Mann filter......buy a Purolator L25277.......when you open the box the filter says....Mann HU 718/5. It's the Mann Fleece filter.....at least it was a couple of years ago when I bought some......I have a box sitting in front of me right now with one in it.

Re: 0w-40

;) I'd find a different advance auto, mine had no limit to the filter cost/added monies thing. Also, look to see if an online order (with pick up at the local store) would not have any restrictions on the filter price (as it IS a MOBIL1 promo, not an advance auto promo), and about the taking back of the M1 filter, it is against the terms of the deal but if a store does it who's to say different? Reason why the online order thing was because the store did not have the filter in stock, it was a special order, and when you upchannel to a csu rep they have the power to make it happen without added cost. So, the advance auto deal you still get the 5.1qt bottle and a 20 buck (last I checked) filter, and the filter sure was a breeze to install (given many do not like the 'paper' filter though) it is a pretty good deal. Oh, you also can swap the filter for a filter of another vehicle you have (but the savings isn't as good). Lots of options, just take advantage of the oil deals! ;)
