Gas Mileage
Hi Everyone!
Could you please tell me, what kind of gas mileage you are getting. I am wondering if you get better mileage after the car is broke in. And if so, at what mileage will it get better? OH! and I only "really" get on it to get on the freeway each day  Maybe tell me, how many miles per tank of gas! Thanks |
It most definitely picks up a couple of mpg as it breaks in. I do a lot of freeway driving, and I get consistenly 23-24 mpg (after break-in). I have the 6 speed. If you really baby it, you can get over 30, but I suspect it is fairly hard to do.
I don't think anyone has proved, without a doubt, of whether the manual gets better or worse mpg than the auto. Too many variables, I suppose. My album has detailed info on the mpg I observed in the first 8000 miles. I was very carful in my calcs. This info was taken in the super heat of Arizona, with the a/c on 100% of the time, dragging down my mpg by about 1. |
I normally get 320 miles per tank (commuting and driving hard when the road conditions allow), but I have managed 427 miles out of a tank (driving carefully).
My fuel gauge give me more miles for the first half of the tank than the second half (i.e. the needle drops quickly once in the red). I wouldn't worry about economy with the cost of gas in the US; enjoy the performance before our government(s) make it impossible to go fast. |
wow
Are we using the same petrol ? :) Only freeway with cruise control I am doing 23.5mpg (10L/100km) Urban only, I am doing 18 mpg (13L/100km) ps: this is an automatic transmission, with 7000 kilometers. |
With the 6-speed and 1800 miles I'm averaging about 260 miles per tank. I drive equal amounts in the city and on the freeway.

Driving 20 miles interstate, 30 miles 2 lane road back and forth to/from work every day, I get right at 25 MPG. I have a 6-speed and almost 8000 miles on the car.

Gas Mileage
I have 11900 + a I get 23 - 25 around town.
Average about 30 on the highway running 3 - 5 miles over the speed limit. I did get 31-33.3 mpg in new Mexico and Arizonia when it was cool. Red Blaze 6 Speed |
Gas Mileage
:D We have just driven three times from Kansas City to Wichita, and back, about 450 miles each time, the average mileage worked out to be 26.5mpg.. however I would recommend "Flying J " gas as its filtered twice and at Emporia its an amazing 179.9 a gallon for 91 oct. we get 10% better mileage with it, we regularly travel across to Oregon and down to Florida..and always search out the Flying J's

When posting fuel economy figures it would be better to quote the mpg for both US and UK gallons. Since our gallon is bigger (not much of ours is bigger than the US) our figures will tend to falsely have a higher economy.
You need to multiply or divide the mpg by the following to convert: 1 gallon [UK] = 1.2009499 gallon [US, liquid] My 34.077 mpg (UK) works out at 28.375 mpg (US). Impressive but slow!! That was with BS EN228 RON95 (UK) fuel. I think that is the same as the US93 equivalent. |
22 MP[US]G driving around town with some highway. It's been pretty consistent. I drive a 6-speed and have 3500 miles.
The best I've ever done is 27 MP[US]G on a long highway trip. Comes out to 300 miles before I get nervous and pull in to fill up. |
I have all of 890 miles on my car as of today. It looks like I will get about 280 miles out of this next tank full, but I really don't care because I am having to much fun. My driving is mostly in-town which sucks, but occasionally I can even the spoiler to deploy on the entrance ramp before when I get on the interstate.

Catman,
Looks nice without a front number plate. Hope you get more chances to deploy the spoiler in the coming miles. |
My average since I got my XFire is a shade over 26 miles to the imperial gallon. Air conditioning is worth around 2 mpg.

Looks like we won't need Air-Con again until around March 2005.
