I get a lot of noise from the valves that can be heard from outside of the car, but not from inside. I guess you could say it sounds almost diesel-like.

Yes, ecactly, you can hear it when the windows are rolled down, but not if they're up, it's actually quite quiet in the cabin

Mine idles rough at low RPM as well. I don't hear anything out of the ordinary, but I can feel it rocking away. Could it be the rough low idle is a trade-off for the smooth as silk operation at high RPMs? Somewhat odd if you consider how may spark plugs this thing has, but who knows whats causing it anyway. You'd think they could write some software into the ECM to adjust whatever needs adjusting to smooth out the lower end.

My rattling noise is the clutch release bearing.

Hmmm I'll check, but that would mean I'd have to turn down/off my iPod.

Mine gives a bit of a miss at idle too but doesn't effect the running. When I 1st joined the forum I remember seeing a post on the rough idle. I imagine when I change my exhaust to something a little more throaty, it will be more noticable. It isn't something that I can't live with.
