Default I want to return my XF early. (UK)

OK, I bought my Crossfire last July on a Personal Contract.

£900 deposit then 12 x £279. The guaranteed final value agreed by Chrysler is £19k.

It was a great deal!!!

I have done nearly 3000 miles and I'm bored of it. It really is a Sheep in Wolfs clothing....

Has anyone experience of returning one of these deals early? I'm happy for Chrysler to give me the £19k now as surely the car is worth more now with 3000 miles rather than in July with an allowed limit of 10,000 miles.

Thanks

excuse me I'm just curious ! Is the deal you have for only 12 months ?Is this a lease purchase ? a balloon payment ?Due in 12 months ?
The leases here in US. are 36-39 months @ those terms.

Hi, Yes this is a lease with a balloon. We make 12 payments of £279 and provided the car is in good condition and not exceeded 10,000 miles we can return the car after 12 months and walk away. Naturally thay want you to either swap for another or to pay the £19k and own the car outright. Regards.

THAT'S A GOOD DEAL !
No deals like that here .you'd have to pay 2x that a month here to get a year deal.
But i'd say you're better off to run it to the end because they would probably charge you anyway.

Yes I guess they want to to run until the end, but I'll never buy one of these cars, there is no fun in driving it. I just love looking at it.

They are contracted to pay me £19k for the car in July with 10,000 miles surely they can pay me £19k today with 3000 miles. These cars are depreciating so quickly. In July the market value for this car will be £15k and this means a big hit for Chrysler financial services.

It will sit in my drive for 6 months gathering dust then.........

It's an autostick, 2 tone interior, graphite. A Beautiful car. Oh, we blacked out the rear window and tinted the door windows. We have a license plate that reads C20SSF too. My brother has a Lamborghini Gallardo and it has spoiled me.

Drive it in 3&4 gear unless you're going over 60 mph.Might as well put your foot down.

You have to look in your contract to see if there is something about early turn in. There may be a big fee. I'm pretty sure they won't care if it only has 3,000 miles on it, and not 10. Here in the states, whenever I lease a car, I never put enough miles on it and get NO CREDIT for being under in the miles, but they sure stick it to us when we go over!
I guess if you're spoiled by a Lamborghini Gallardo, you are looking to buy one of those? I'm thinking they cost a fair amount more than the XF and money doesn't matter to you so much as fun, so just trade it in and take a loss. People never come out ahead when changing their mind after they signed a contract.

Come for a ride with me... You won't be bored anymore!!!!!

If you want some additional fun, turn off the traction control and practice some low speed drifting...

Really though... I have no idea if the car has enough power to go sideways.. I'm just bustin' melcragg....

Exactly. Plus, they just reduced the UK price and you can get a new one for £22k so you have a good deal for £19k, you won't get any more. They will make you pay the remaining months payments.

Who ever would have imagined that a $170,000 car could be more exciting than a $30,000 car?

Dan,

In reality, it's quite a bit more expensive than you or I would have to pay. Not that it isn't a good deal there, but these cars are comparatively much more expensive in the UK to what they are here in the states.

He's paying £4248 for a 12 month lease. Converting british pounds to dollars it would be equivalent to $8,000 total or $667/month for us. If he decides to buy, the payoff will cost close to $36K more!

If the crossfire sells for £22K new now, melcragg's used one may currently be worth something close to the £19K payoff. The question is whether it is depreciating at faster than £279/month. It wouldn't hurt for him to ask the dealer what he can do to get out of the lease, but there would probably be some form of penalty. it never hurts to ask.
