Cost of oil changes?

All,
I have been reading a lot of the threads, but this is my first post. I noticed that several members stated that the price of oil changes on the Crosffire is quite high when compared to other cars. What are most people paying? What would cause th eprice to be so high?

Re: Cost of oil changes?

The Crossfire requires synthetic oil, which is about $5/quart instead of $1.50. It takes 8 1/2 qaurts instead of 5 or 6. Also, the filter is a Mercedes part, so it cost about $10-$15 instead of $3. Then you put dealer markups and labor on top of that. Most people are paying from $75 to $90 at the dealer. You can change it yourself for around $50. Keep in mind that it only needs to be changed about every 7K miles instead of 3K like a normal car, so it isn't quite as bad as it sounds.

DIY for $60. Fairly easy to do.
