Cool Will MY Next Crossfire have a V-8 or 3.5 V-6?

Just thought I'd ask what you would want to have in your next Crossfire ?
DC may be listening !

1.I'd like either the new 3.5 V-6 or a V-8.
2.I'd like an active suspension
3.I'd like a little better seat like the SL500

and would you pay more or not for it ?

I think it should come with a winter home somewhere warm, so I would drive it all year round!
(and the garage door openers should work with out the key in)

Honestly, if offered at the same price point as the current limited coupe...the 268hp V6 in the new SLK 350 would be more than enough to satisfy my desire for more power with this car. Sure some would prefer the V8...but I love the broad and smooth torque range of the german V6...even in the current 3.2.

My only other "wish list" items would be a bug-free traction control system that you could truly turn-off completely and more than one decent cupholder. I love everything else about the car especially the styling (they better not change that, it's the only thing they got perfect with the first generation of this car). Except for maybe that damn silver painted trim...body color matched would be a nice factory option for the limited. Heck even a standard option, does anyone actually think it looks good in silver? Must be a euro thing...

If our crossfires had the 3.5 i would have not bought my srt-4. What would also be neat if the car had the 5.0 302hp. I would have spent a bit more to get a 3.5.

I don't think there will be another crossfire. Not enough sales here to justify another platform switch. I don't think the slk350 engine will fit on this platform. That would be the only way they would give us more power. But you would have to change the transmission as well. then the price would go up to the range of the slk350. The only reason this car was priced as it was because they used all the slk320 mechanics. The direction DC is taking I believe is the corvette fighter they had at the autoshows. Name escapes me(something fire). If they bring it out at the project 50K price they will add the roadster in the second year.

I strongly disagree on the firepower being a Corvette beater too much $$s close to sixty K !

But with a few changes in the current Crossfire they could sell more with new 3.5 and the new trannies.I 'm sure of that. And without that much increase in price. They have the Body so stick the better drivetrain in !And some SL500 seats.Forget the AMG V6.And sell order only 5.5 V-8s !

the transmission would definately not have to be changed. this tranny is extremely strong.

Would want the 350 engine; the V8 for this car would be too big a motor.
Would also like the sloping front end like the new SLK but nothing else changed.

I have seen a new SLK55 on the road ,let me say the Crossfires' looks blow it away !That's probably why they won't put it in the XF.If they do it would be next year I'm hoping ,right about when all those cheap XF leases end !

What's your basis for that statement? This IS the SLK platform. Assembled and fabricated by Karman in Germany with the Chrysler designed body. The new SLK350 is no larger than the old car and accepts the 3.5 V6 just fine. Startech seems able to cram a 6.1 V8 in the Crossfire, why would .3 liters of displacement be an issue?

With a totally redesigned body and interior? Imported from Germany and it's still 10k less than the same model year SLK320?

I work for DCX in Auburn Hills. The Firepower is on a Viper platform with a tuned Hemi with 450 hp and way more road manners and ammenites than the Viper. A Viper SRT10 stickers for 85K base...if you think the Firepower would come out at 50k you're dreaming. Its a concept car, if it came out at 50k it would not have the specs of the prototype.

I don't think the car will survive this model year, the sales aren't there. The first dealer I shopped back in Sept had five 04 coupes, he wouldn't make a very good deal and I went elsewhere. He still has four of them. The reason DC is becoming more successful is because they are reacting quicker to the market. They bring a concept to fruition much quicker than GM or Ford and have dropped them faster if they don't show a strong following. I love the car but wish it had more power. I'll be keeping mine, but I'll be surprised if there is a 2006 Crossfire.

I still dont know why you think the corssfire will be shelved it sold like 22K units worldwide and with 3/4 sold in the US and growing by the month. It outsold the TT in the US 3-1. The BMW Z4 had sales of 38K worldwide for the year down 18%

From what i have read DC are happy with it. Im sure they will change some options in the future and offer diff engine packages but I very much doubt they will scrap it. IMO

In anycase..
If they sell anymore the dealers will be in a boat load of trouble as they can hardly handle the servicing of the ones they have sold :-)

Cool Re: Will MY Next Crossfire have a V-8 or 3.5 V-6?

Just on a slightly different subject regarding whether a vehicle will survive or not........

I saw a 2005 T-Bird yesterday (brand new) and the serial number is approx. 3800.

My first thought was that if they consecutively number their cars like the Xfire, regardless of production year, that is certainly a very good reason why this will be the last year of the Bird. Anyone want to provide some learned insight on this one.

They've made less T-birds each year and they plan on this as last.as for the Xfire they have sold more in 2 years than Slks .!

I'll wager anyone on 2006 that will be built.

Buckeyedad42 doesn't always make the best arguements.
