Trunk lid lifts
The lifts for my trunk lid are weak and occasionally they will let the trunk lid fall down from the open position.
Who sells these new besides the dealership? I searched and didn't come up with anything. Although I'm not exactly sure what they are called. Props? struts? lifts? Thanks Curt |
Re: Trunk lid lifts
Try this: I'm not sure but I think you have a roadster. This will get you to a company that probably has what you need. Other option is to go to Amazon or ebay. There should be information on your lift strut.

Re: Trunk lid lifts
Try Rock Auto. I got a set of Stabilus trunk lifts from them last summer.

Re: Trunk lid lifts
Sorry, I have a coup. I forgot to mention that. Instead of "trunk lid lift" I searched "liftgate gas prop" and got a few more hits, including Rock Auto and Amazon. I've had good luck with Rock Auto so that's probably the way I'll go.

Re: Trunk lid lifts
New "lift support" for the roadster trunk lid are available thru Rockauto.com.
Part is Sachs S2 SG414069, they are 12.37 each, so for a set of two with shipping its 28.73. Easy 5 minute replacement, only need a small flat head screwdriver and a dab of grease for each stud. |

Re: Trunk lid lifts
If anyone else is looking, for my Coupe, I replaced both of mine recently with these from Amazon.
Monroe Shocks & Struts 900118 Universal Lift Support Monroe Max-Lift Lift Support They are showing $18.40 each today, I paid about a dollar more through a seller on Amazon listed as AutoPartsZilla. No problem with the seller, and was free shipping. When I checked at local parts stores, nobody had them in stock anyway, they would have to order for me. I did some research about the length when open and the length when closed, and these Monroe's looked like they are the best fit. I believe Stabilus was the original brand. I am satisfied when I let the hatch go, in a reasonable normal position, that it closes firm enough to catch fine, and not slam shut too hard. When I bought the car a few months back, I thought I would shatter the back window eventually if I didn't fix it. |
Re: Trunk lid lifts
Hi all, I have the same problem in the UK for a coupe, no one can get me the strut other than a dealer or stabillus and both want £100 for each strut. I can get the equivalent from the US strongarm 6189 (15.5" / 9") but then there's the postage and import duties to add.
Anyone know of a UK based supplier? |
Re: Trunk lid lifts
I have purchased 4 different sets from 4 different supplies - none fit the convertible! I've searched everywhere to no avail!

Anyone know of a UK based supplier? I am seeing them listed from 300Nm to 800Nm. Thanks |
