Won't start - very randomly
 

04 LIMITED COUPE - 40K MILES

This has occurred about 5 times now in the last 2 months. It has happened after being parked all night and after a quick stop.

When turning the ignition key on all the way there is no crank or sound of any kind; however, dash lights up and all bells and whistles seem to work at full capacity. I have used the cables to charge the battery and that works to get it start it again but I took it to Autozone and run a battery-starter-alternator test which resulted in a passing grade for all 3.

The crankshaft position sensor is on my check list but I'm not too sure since it doesn't crank when turning the key. Before replacing the CPS I wanted to hear other recommendations.

RCM, RCM, RCM. Did I say RCM ?

If I understand correctly, you mean to say is the RCM, right? :D

One follow up question: Do I need to replace the entire RCM or are there other alternatives?

Of course. Put it in a mailer and send it to tighed1 after emailing him at tighed1@hotmail.com

Or you can fire up your soldering pencil and do it yourself.
