Fun poll on Speed (MPH) with non-SRT Crossfires

OK, no SRT's with this poll (you can do your own polls), and no altered or souped up Crossfires (you can also do your own polls), and not advocating any violation of any speed limits here, but just curious as to what is the greatest speed that people have gone in their Crossfire..... (And not advocating that people speed, just so they could do better than this poll) Just meant to be a fun poll.

Haven't gone that fast. Don't know of anywhere here that's safe for those high speeds, and a 1/4 mile track isn't long enough! But I'm sure that someone has gone down a drag track. How fast CAN you go in a 1/4 mile? If I ever get a chance(we are drag racing all summer, but not with street cars), I'll copy the time slip.

Sorry, but the poll did not specify KM or MILES; I have certainly gone over 170kph according to my speedo.

My Bad, being terribly Americancentric.....Miles Per Hour, that's why I started with the lowest being 80, the highest being 170.

Yup, gained a couple of horses but don't have any dyno numbers to prove it.

I had the xfire on the famous 2 mile airstip at Bruntingthorpe a few weekends ago (here in the UK) and from a standing start, managed 137mph on the laser timing gear. Even with that distance I only just hit 6th gear as I crossed the line. Another mile would have sealed it.

Yup, but unlike some of your posts, I have never pretended that I did or pretended that the gain was supermongus, etc.

Why exclude the SRT6 from this poll? Correct me if I'm wrong, but the
top speed for the SRT6 and the other models are all computer limited
to the same 155mph, right? Ok, I think I have seen the SRT6 listed as
high as 158mph. The point is how fast you have gone, not how quickly
you have achieved that speed. right? So, why not include the SRT6?

I don't understand why people buy a car which can do 150 and have not taken it over 100mph. I think the car drives best between 100 and 110mph. I just can not keep it below the legal 70mph here in the UK on motorways. When there is any clear road infront of me I just put my foot down until is either touches the floor or I get too close to another car in front.

The parts of the M25 I use dont have cameras and as far as I know none of the M25 does. In the 9 years I've been driving I have never got any tickets.

I have only been stopped by the cops once for silly driving. I was lat night and I was following a car in front who was doing 50 on a 70mph country road. It was a sigle lane each way road and I had a car behind me. We we came into a street which is a 30mph zone I decided to floor it and overtook the car infront. As I pulled away I looked in my rearview mirror and noticed the car that was behind before had done the same thing. I thought oh no it can't be can it then it happened the blue lights came on. How stupid could I have been to do an illegel overtook with a copper behind me. I pulled over and got a warning for a first offence. This was happened when I had my second car at 18 years of age and have not had any trouble since.

I thought SRT's had a higher potential MPH gauge and could do about 10 MPH more than the limited or regular X-Fires.....I invited anyone who wanted to do a separate SRT poll.

Re: Fun poll on Speed with non-SRT Crossfires

You're right, I don't remember any cameras on the M25. However, I do remember cameras on the M40 going to Birmingham. We were doing 90 on the outside (or inside depending on how you look at it) with a copper on a motorcycle behind me. I thought that he would "blue light" me, however, all he wanted to do was pass. It seems that in the UK & Europe reckless driving is more important to ticket than speeding. Cheers!

I reckon the police in the UK would like to see a rise in the speed limit on motorways.

I've forgotten the what the limits are in America can someone post them. Are the coppers over there tough on speeding?

Re: Fun poll on Speed with non-SRT Crossfires

There are attempts to instill speed cameras in the U.S., so far (thankfully) they're still fairly rare, unlike the U.K. and Australia....the speed limits on highways are usually about 65 around here, in the West they get a bit higher, though to be honest noone goes below 75 on the highway.

Re: Fun poll on Speed with non-SRT Crossfires

The only cameras that I've seen are for running red lights. I know that Scottsdale had them 4 years ago.

Re: Fun poll on Speed with non-SRT Crossfires

there are red light cameras EVERYWHERE in the orange county, la county area, but i dont care about those ones cuse if you run a red light you're a dumbas anyways. the speeding ones however i feel are ridiculously unfair and if they ever do come along i'll be wearing a cap and glasses everywhere i drive with that anticamera flash sh*t sprayed on my license plates...if you are driving recklessly then you deserve a ticket, but common 2am coming home from a "friends" house when there is nobody on the road. these speeding tickets are unjust. BOOOOOO cameras!

100, but I just got my x-fire yesterday. Give me a few weeks and I'll change the # to 150 :)
