just noticed this, maybe our lights diming issue is directly related?

Right, becuase they are checking all V6 and V8 Voltage regulators, the models they do mention are recalled for other issues, here is text:
Mercedes said it would check and if necessary replace the voltage regulator in the alternator on vehicles with six- and eight-cylinder petrol engines built between June 2001 and November 2004 in the recall.
The carmaker will install new battery-control software on E-class and CLS-class models made from January 2002 to January 2005. In addition, it will update the braking system on current E-class, SL-class and CLS-class models, made since June 2001.

I have requested that they respond to my question regarding the V6 being in the crossfire and whether our cars will be a part of that recall. I'll post the response when I hear back
Well the response back was the usual, if the crossfire requires a recall then that will be issued.
I guess as they haven't issued one they...
a) don't give a crap
b) haven't received enough complaints
c) don't give a crap
d) don't give a crap
I'm ruling out 'b' so that means it could be 'a', 'c' or 'd', thoughts?

I have had many problems with all the lights in my car, sometimes the radio light is blinking a little bit, then one of the times the lights inside the car were dimmed, have had many problems with my HID kits on lowlights and foglights.... This makes sense to me, what kind of problems have you had with your crossfire related to lights that could make you think its the alternator?
lights dim when idling at a stop, all the cars lights!
Id encourage you all if you have this issue, contact DC and then if you get nowhere then file a complaint here : http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/ivoq/

My Xfire just spent a week in service. The entire dash and console suddenly failed to illuminate. Then, the day prior to bringing it in for service, the battery was dead....and it was a bit*h for AAA to jump start but it eventually did. Anyway, DC replaced the battery and a dash modular component which had to be ordered (hence the week in service). This was the first and only problem I have had since owning my Xfire for nearly two years. DC put me in a new Jeep, kept me updated during the entire process, repaired the problem, and lastly detailed the carin time for pick-up.
To what I was told, the battery (bad battery) was or may have been the root of the problem that caused the dash module to malfunction. Should any of you fellow Xfire owners experience this type of issue and it baffles your local DC service techs, have them contact Stuart at Serramonte Auto Plaza Chrysler in Colma, California for answers to a proper repair.

Thanks for the information however, I find most dealers are very reluctant to call another dealer when they have a problem. It could be hard headiness on their part or just that the problem in your car may be a little different and they want to do the trouble shooting.
Well My Battery Went to Sh*t on me too. I have sent about a half a dozen emails to Daimler Chrysler, requesting that they do something about this obvious problem. All I have ever gotten, was we will look into it, and there are no recalls at this time. Thank you for your interest....bla, bla, bla...
The last email I sent was not very polite. I pretty much told them were to stick it, because you know what I worked damn hard to get that car, and I'm sure your cars weren't just handed to you either. I'm sure there are a couple that may have been handed the car. That's not the point, but any way. My point is for the people who support this company and, buy buying the cars, by buying all the little trinkets in the mopar catalog, or even the people who take it upon themselves to make there cars a little more special. Or to make there cars a little more unique,..by adding better Performance... All these things should be done by the manufacture, NOT JUST the customers. We are kind of like the unwanted step children of Daimler. I know that the crossfire was a limited release for Daimler. I know that all there doing with the Crossfires, was phasing out the old SLK 320/230. It was a great way to sell of the remaining: Parts, Access., & the Vehicles themselves. I bet you somewhere in the world there is a sh**load of SLK Body Panels. Another thing that I noticed, when the new 350's were being introduced, I never saw a big push to ditch the 04 SLK's. It was kind of like the just sold all of them, or as if they didn't have a factory full of them. I know in 04 the SLK was way low in the numbers, because I think most people wanted the new 350's in 05. In part I think that is why the Crossfires look is so bold, and different. Daimler would use the crossfire as a test run on Design. Hell they already had the cars, they weren't having to produce anything new, but the body pieces. Plastic ain't that expensive. So they got there Audience reaction, because of the positive feed back on the looks of the car, many other manufactures are getting bolder with there designs. However they are putting money into there programs. So they want the customers to be happy, and want to see some longevity with there new creations. My point to all of this is What would motivate Daimler Chrysler to do anything but the absolute min. maintenance possible with our cars. There New 350 was a hit, it sold. The only way it would have been different, is if the world didn't like the New SLK 350..Etc. They would have been doing a 180 to keep up the Customer Service, and development of there already established SLK Series. Now that they have officially moved over to that greener grass, they could give a SH*T about the Lawn Behind Them.
So We as a community have to stick together, and help each other out in anyway that we can. I know I will promise to help in any way that I am capable, but don't expect much from Daimler. You can expect a bunch of lip service, that I can promise you.

Hello saskins,
They told you they haven't got more complaints about battery or electrical issues with the Crossfire, I've read many complaints from people in forums, what could be good is if you give us the same email address you used, so we can all email them and they can get all of our complaints, that may help in something, or at least we could give it a try! what do you all think?

I have a voltage meter on the GPS I installed (Just realized yesterday). So when i go to that display it sits at 13.8-14.0 when underway (very slight fluctuations) and when first starting up. However when you come to a stop on occasion it drops to 12.7 before moving and settling at 13.4 (the drop to 12.7 ties in with the lights and display dimming). Now, im not sure what all this means so i just wanted to post the numbers. This is consistent all the time!
Hello Brittt1,
That is interesting, it could be related to the RPMs thing mentioned earlier in the forum.
I noticed that its all the lights inside and outside that dim, and they do sometimes, I don't know what does it depend on, it can be when I make a stop or when I am driving.
I went to the dealer this last weekend, and told them about the problem and that I am in a forum and a lot of people from US have had this problem. They said to take the car to them this week, so they can make tests and find out, also said that if somebody has had this problems before, the DC central will help them out and fix the issue asap.
One other thing I have also noticed in my car, is that sometimes the temperature indicator goes crazy and shows really high temperatures, anybody else having these problems?
