What's involved witht he First Gear syncro fix?

The dealer has finally agreed to fix my first gear issue and says they have to order a syncro kit in inorder to repair it. Does anyone know what is technicalls involved int he repair and what parts are replaced/adjusted?
Is there any way I can be sure the parts were actually installed? Are there any tell tale signs of the work being completed?

If you don't trust the dealer you should go to another one.

It is a huge job. The tranny must be dropped and then completely dissassembled and then put back together correctly. They had mine for five days. I notice no difference although mine never jumped out of gear. Just real hard to get it into first sometimes. I thought the syncros would fix that. I was wrong. Good luck.

As much as I would like to avoid any major work on my car (like dropping the tranny) I am glad it is getting fixed. It probably pops out of gear an average of 3 times per day, and that is just commuting to and from work. I will be nice to ba able to drive the car without having to cringe when using first gear all the time...

I'm just curious. What is the build number of your car as the first gear issue is associated mainly with cars built before Dec '03?

Good luck with the fix.
