Issue with battery drain
Issue with battery drain
05 crossfire. System is charging and battery is good. However, rear left taillight stays on constantly when car is off (turns off once cranked up) and the battery drains within an hour or 2 and has to be jumped everytime i drive. I removed fuse 9 when this started before i realized light was staying on. It stays on whether i lock the doors or not. When i turn lights on both taillights work, but when powered off only left side stays on. Any idea where it stems from? I thought at first alarm system but that doesnt explain why it happens when car isnt locked.

See "curmudgeon". Also all of those Canadians who want to be Floridians are still waiting for spring.
No you are just not German where streets are narrow and you have to leave the street side parking lights on at night.
That said just the parking lights should not kill a good H6 in a few hours. The spec for draw with everything off is 50 ma (mine runs about 30) and has been fine after sitting for a week or two (longer I have a number of little float chargers).

@padgett
it was a combination bad battery and my stupidity. The car was running on purely alternator. Battery would not charge much and what little it did was drained by lights. Got battery replaced for free today. Since then, left it sitting 3 hours, cranked right up. Normally wouldnt even get low battery clicks on starting

Re: Issue with battery drain
Update: something is still draining battery. Brand new battery stayed charged, but 15 hours of sitting in yard and so dead that even the temp gauge and milage wouldnt even showm im getting the dreaded "flashing lights click noise" at very low voltage on battery. All i have right now is a 1.5amp charger hooked up hoping to charge enough to carry back to where i bought it. As soon as i hooked up the battery charger, it started doing the clicking/flash noises for about 5 minutes then stopped.
any other potential ideas. Fuse 9 has been removed for days before battery replacement

Re: Issue with battery drain
Is it possible that a LO-JAK system has been installed in a hidden location that might be draining the battery? I only ask because something is draining my roadster battery and I am aware that it has a lo-jak system on it, but I am unable to locate it and lo-jack will not tell me where on the car they installed it for the previous owner. I rarely drive it and keep it parked in the garage with the battery disconnected. Just a thought...good luck!
