What do you use to clean your headliner?

I have a couple of marks on my headliner and I would like to know what to use to clean it. I am worried about the marks being smudged if I use the wrong product since the headliner is so light. Any help would be appreciated.

first, try to find out what made the marks. some products are better at removing certain stains.

my personal favorite at getting out most stains is spot shot carpet cleaner. it comes in a spray can and i've used it on carpets and upholstery many times. it hasn't discolored any fabrics i've tried it on and it doesn't leave any rings at the outer edge of the area you clean. it's made by the same company that makes wd-40. as with any cleaning product you will want to test it on a very small area first to ensure the results are as intended.

Try to dab first before you start scrubbing. You don't want to rough up or pill the fabric.
How about one of those portable home carpet steam cleaners? Never tried.

a steam cleaner will loosen the glue/adhesive holding the headliner to the cardboard backing...not recommended.

spot cleaning...with the cleaning product on the towel is your best bet.
