Default What to look for in a used Crossfire

New to the forums. Looking at purchasing a Crossfire, have one I知 checking out. New to crossfires as well. The one I知 looking at is a 2004 with 47k mikes, well maintained it seems.

Just wanted to get some feedback from knowledgeable folks as to what to look for when buying these cars, things that might be specific to this car.

Is there a checklist for buying ised somewher here that i havent found?

If the person who has the list has never posted in a forum how come my post #2 here has where to go and get it plus more information than you could ever have realized existed about the Crossfire? My post leads you to what the later posts mention plus a huge amount more info, Service Manuals, Owners Manuals, repairs, production figures plus more and more. If they have never posted why would they post now?

Maybe I should erase my post and let you stagger about in the wilderness.
You should read the content of that post not the just the title

Sorry, not a troll here...I'm pretty experienced with cars and car forums, that's why I come to sites like these when I'm researching a new / used car which I do a lot. I am new on this forum, but not new to this stuff by any means. I had searched, didn't get the right combos down to find what was here. The post you linted to I did read through, granted I did not read all 288 posts in that thread, but the focus on that thread was for new folks registering their cars. There were a few nuggets in there, but I'm hoping you'll agree that the link I posted after was a little more relevant.

Still not exactly what I've seen in other car forums, but close. In some there actually have a pre-purchase check list that takes you things to look for in that particular car. Here's an example of one in the Corvette Forums for new car pickup, but there are similar ones for used cars. That is essentially what I was looking for. Assuming we pick this car up, you'll hear more from me I'm sure, I tend to participate and add value in these groups (at least I hope and try) and not just leach off them. That said, I'm looking right now at a car, things could move quickly and I'm trying to find that information relatively quick so I don't lose out on the car. Reading through 100's of posts isn't as efficient as if there was a simple checklist I could print off and take with me.

It does sound like a couple things to look for are the heated seat failures as well as rust under the doors, I did pick up on that.

Ok, and I actually need to correct myself a little! I misread your post!

There was a part that said "Look here for your answers" with CLICK after that, which took me to the new car registration stuff.

Then under that it had the Index of Crossfire Problmes, repairs and How To's. I did miss that link. On the mobile version of this site, that part didn't look to be part of your post, it looked to be an ad, so I skipped over that link.

Now that I am on my computer it looks like you were providing two different links there. I will look through that as well.

The main post I refer to lists many repairs of Crossfire problems, this is the result of years of experience of Crossfire members who have recorded their problem and the solution. This represents just a small cross section of the repairs, there are many more to be found using the search feature. The threads listed are a fair representation of the repairs that have proven to have worked.
Read and absorb it all, there is a test on Monday morning. LOL

It would appear that you should look for 2 keys the way the price went up!

This is the most important thing in a Crossfire to me besides a supercharger.

WRONG. Don't read his post!
There are THREE things to look for in a Crossfire:
  • 6 speed manual
  • Red Exterior
  • Roadster (convertible)
Yer welcome.

Rubbish!
Get an SRT and be done with it. Or an NA with an auto transmission, it will leave the manual equipped Crossfire standing as will a lot of cars.

I'll give you that but a manual is more fun to drive.

I had a 2004 Crossfire with a manual transmission and the SRT is much more fum, power beats rowing the gears in my opinion.
