Chrysler Crossfire ride....low profile tires.
I am pleasantly surprised with the comparatively comfortable ride my 2004 Crossfire has even though it has very low profile, thin sidewall tires! However, there is also a greater chance of bending a rim after hitting a pothole in one. Anyone have that happen to them? How widespread is that problem? Final comment...my .rims have a
lot of nicks all over the edge of all my rims.To me, I always thought
that happened from scrapping curbs when parking. But nobody could
possibly bump into that many curbs to cause that many nicks on all four rims? Anyone else notice this and what caused so many?

I've not heard of a lot of bent wheels.
But CRACKED wheels are often a result of riding the white line where there is broken pavement.
Scraps and nicks are a thing we all live with. The only way to avoid them is to garage the car. PERMANENTLY.

I agree, but I am not the first owner of this car, and I really have never seen another vehicle with so many deep nicks in all 4 tires! It must have something to do with the nature of low profile tires. Also, the back rims definitely are raised out from the tire, so they would hit a curb first.
Re: Chrysler Crossfire ride....low profile tires.
Just checked..225/40 18 in front, 255/35 19 in back, with only the rear rims raised out from tire...almost a half inch!. Correct 33/34 air pressure. New Sumitomo m&s htr a/s po/ 2. all season tires from ntb in delaware, which are quiet and smooth running. ...highly recommend. But with the back tires, if you bump a curb, the rim will not first because it is raised out where the front areflush with the tire. I sincerely appreciate appreciate your reply, though. Have no idea why this is. All 4 have many many deep nicks into the sides of the tire all around but none along the bottom of rim, like would be caused by hitting a pothole with low profile tire. I have never
seen this on any car I have ever owned, to this great extent. Just curious as to what caused this. No previous owner could have rammed into that many curbs that hard and that my times, I would assume. But they sure could have hit a lot of pot holes in 15 years....But would it cause what I described above with zero dents into where the tire seals to the tire?

Re: Chrysler Crossfire ride....low profile tires.
Come to think of it, if the previous owners lived where they had to parallel park a lot, low profile tires do tend to stick out from the tire a bit when compared to traditional tires and looking just now at previous tire and rim posts on this site,I guess a!minimum rims hitting into concrete curbs over that many years would add up.
