Head Lamp Restoration...
Hello All,
I wanted to post this for all who have struggled to redo their head lamp lenses. I've owned this car since new so I've been at it quite a few times trying to find a solution through trial and error. I get through the sanding okay it's just the finish never lasted as long as this has so far.....it's been about 6 months now and still pleased with how they look, especially in this hot Florida sunshine. It repels sunlight, rain, moisture and temperature. I've talked to many people about using any type of clear finish and they told me nothing holds up to the sun. Minwax indoor/outdoor spar urethane clear semi gloss. The lamps are expensive and thought about replacing them but figured I give this a shot one more time. I'm liking how they hold up and, I can always recoat them if I have to. Had to do it quick, can't play with it. Brushed it on quickly and see very little brush marks. Gave it two coats. I did and tried everything on the market, it just didn't hold up. Also, my lenses were so bad you couldn't see the internal bulbs at all, very frustrating for a long time but very pleased now. I've tried everything on you tube, it didn't work for me, this did.
