2004 Coupe Question Instruments Illumination

I just inherited a 2004 Crossfire Coupe with standard transmission. Can the instruments like temp, odometer, clock illumination be made brighter during daylight driving. I can change the brightness when the headlights are on, but not otherwise.

Maybe I am reading it wrong but the doors lock automatically at 15mph or something like that.
Turn on the side markers and adjust the dash lighting.

Yes, I can adjust the dash lighting when the side lights or headlights are on. It's daylight driving when the lights are off that the dash display is too dim to see the outside temp, mileage, and clock.

Driving with the lights on is suggested for safety reasons.

In Canada daytime running lights are used and to get this requirement on the Crossfire a different light switch is used. The daytime running lights include all the normal nighttime lights except you cannot turn on the high beams, you can flash them though.

Also, I pushed the top of the lock button under the clock for more than 5 seconds with the key in the on position. Locks will not automatically lock no matter how fast I drive. Otherwise the locks work as they should.

The lock switch is under the radio.
The key has to be in the ON/RUN position, this is the position just before the starter operates, the first position is the accessory position.
Maybe you are doing this but maybe not.

I meant under radio, not clock. I did that procedure several times. When I push the top of the lock button for more than 5 seconds should I hear a beep or some other signal which I don't?

The automatic door lock can be programmed "OFF", I don't remember how you do it, and I sure don't remember how you program it back "ON".
But I know there IS either a procedure you can use OR you use the DRB tool at the dealer to set it.

I just dont remember now....

I do :
Auto lock on : turn key to "on", hold top of lock switch for 5 seconds or more.
Auto lock off : turn key to "on", hold bottom of lock switch for 5 seconds or more.

How can you remember that,? You are older than I am.

That's exactly what I did (turn key to "on", hold top of lock switch for 5 seconds or more), repeatedly. The manual says to do this. It still doesn't automatically lock. when I drive.

Have you seen any water around the pump in the trunk?
I would expect more problems if it had got wet but you never know.
From what you have said I take it this switch does lock and unlock the doors as it should.

Re: 2004 Coupe Questions-Locks and Instruments Illumination

Dave is right, IF the switch works to lock/unlock, then the module is not responding.

ONE thing you can try, disconnect the battery cable for 1/2 minute with headlights on. That MAY reset it.
