6'2" vs. the Crossfire
As I am in the market for a Crossfire, i have seen a few that i am interested in looking at but they are over 100 miles away from where I live.
Before driving to see them, is my height of 6'2" a problem? I have read that taller people have issues in the base Crossfire model but I am not sure about the 2004 model year (the 2005 Limited equivalent). Thanks |

I'm 5'10" and I just fit - after having removed the knee crash pad under the steering wheel. If you are lean it might work. Padgett did some "frame persuasion" to help him fit LOL.

I'm 6'1" and in my Limited. I feel like I just barely fit, but I think I like to recline my seat just a little more than most people. The more you recline, the closer it gets to the bulkhead behind the seat.
With the 8-way seat, you can get quite a bit of adjustment out of it. I have to balance out putting it higher for a little more leg room (and have my hair touching against the roof as I drive), versus having my right shin just against the knee bolster as I press the gas pedal, versus having my seat back far enough where the back is touching the bulkhead wall, which can cause squeaky sounds constantly while you drive which is also somewhat annoying. Also, tilting the bottom of the seat can also provide some more leg room. I think if you play around with all those adjustments, you should be able to just fit like I do. The squeaky bulkhead is probably the most irritating part to me when driving. Mine is an automatic, I would think having a manual might also add another adjustment factor, where normally people like to get just the right amount of clutch travel versus how bent or straight your leg is when you use the clutch. By the way, I did test drive an SRT-6, which has different seats. I'm not sure if they are the same as the Limited, but just covered in a different material, or a totally different seat. I felt like I had a lot more leg room when I drove it, so they possibly might offer slightly more leg room. If the car is a reasonable amount to just go there to try one out for the first time, I would definitely give it a try. I think you might just fit. You can also practice at home what it feels like getting in and out. Go in the bathroom, and practice getting in and sitting in your tub, then get out. That's what I like to compare it to, when I haven't driven mine in a while and get in, after driving one of my other cars. :p |

You will get all different answers to this question Remember height is different on many of us ...some have long legs and others have long torso's , We all fit differently in these cars I'm 6'1" and fit comfortably in my 2004 Coupe for 11 years and 90,000 miles Now I have a 2005 Roadster and fit comfortably in that as well when the top is closed I have had the Roadster 16 months and driven it 10.000 miles already Ya need to get in a few and see for yourself if it is comfortable for you or not Gary |

every time i get in, something on my legs bleed. the first thing that came to mind was to rework the pad with something softer. how did you rework the pad? did you replace it with soft foam? if so, an idea of which kind? and how you attached it? anything you can say is of great help. i guess replacing it with something softer may be of great help. thanks in advance. and if some1 has faced this and can tell his solution, or have an idea, please bring it in. |

old and with some details that still dont get it. too bad that does not show pics. this way it could be easier to follow. by the way, am 5'11", 172, 32" inseam. in case this helps to bring some comments. and i have been playing with the controls and trying to find the right position. but not having the wheel swiveling is something restrictive. |

ended up removing the pad and adding foam all over where my legs are in contact with everything.
still, getting in and out is like with any sports car. i sit first, then rotate and squeeze my legs without touching anything. and you need to fully open the door. |

i'm 6'5", sold my last crossfire a couple months ago because of my height, missed it and bought another one. now i'm right back where i started. i love driving the car and i think that's where my problem is, i'm tall, have a 9 year old (these cars aren't the most kid friendly) and always need to put large things in the trunk of my vehicles so the roadster kinda becomes a pain on a day to day basis. i think if i weren't trying to drive it as much as i do i'd be fine, but it's a fun car to drive. now i'm sitting here debating trading the car for a caliber SRT-4 knowing darn well if i do i'll be on the hunt for another roadster in the near future.
