Question Factory Alarm Question

When arming/disarming the alarm, does anyone's crossfire make a noise?

I had the siren and alarm module replaced by my local Chrysler dealership the other day. As I noticed when I set the alarm off (windows down, alarm set) the hazard lights would flash but no sound. Got the car back two days ago and now I get a beep when I arm/disarm? - 3 beeps when locking - 1 when unlocking.

Is this normal?

Did they changed your alarm completely, maybe you have an alternative to the standard one.
I'm happy just with the flashing lights, although I know of others that would prefer a beep.
No-one has yet posted a way to un-mute the beep.

Mine doesn't beep, just flashing light. I'm glad. I hate alarms that beep when arming.

I don't like the alarm "chirp-chirp" that usually signals on and off, but the small beep that my wife's Toyota gives off is nice. It is better than having to turn around and look at the Crossfire every time just to make sure the lights flashed. A low volume tone wouldn't hurt.

No beeping here. Furthermore it's not allowed in Switzerland and Germany. As it's kind of German car you can not turn it on or off. But I heard of a possibility to set a beep while arm/disarm the alarm system. Try a Mercedes dealer. He should be able to switch it on like other MB models with his diagnostic device plugged to the car. Even the loudness can be adjusted.

OK this may sound stupid but what does the alarm do?

Other than flash the lights when you lock the doors?

Go ahead and set it off. But a word of warning make sure you are not in your garage unless you want your damn eardrums to bleed. LOL, I found out the hard way.

Before it was replaced it didn't make a sound, lights just flashed when you armed/disarmed.

Now it beeps once when you unlock, in time with the lights, and beeps 3 times when locking - again, in time with the lights.

It's not a loud beep though, short quiet beeps. As far as I know, the dealership did a like for like swap? It's got me wondering if you can turn the sound on and off?

Not on your own. Need to plug a diagnostic/programming device to the car. Dealer should know. If he doesn't because he's Chrysler and the XF is more Mercedes, try at MB.
