Default Leg room in 6 spd

I can't put the seat back far enough in my 6 speed 04' to get comfortable. I wouldn't see a problem with this if I was tall, but I'm only 5' 8", with slightly long legs for my height (31 length pant). I like my foot to be extended mostly straight and not bent at the knee when the clutch pedal is completely depressed.

If the seat could slide back a couple of more inches, or if the upper part of the seat backing didn't hit the plastic behind so high, I would be in good shape.

I'm just curious if others with a 6spd have a hard time getting comfortable. I can't imagine being 6' 2" w/ my car. At 5' 8", 150 lbs and I'm already feeling a little too snug.

If you can't get comfortable in the car, why did you buy it in the first place?

I am 5' 8" as well and the seat goes WAY far back to where I can't even depress the pedals all the way. My inseam is 30", don't think 1" is going to do anything.

I'm taller than you and I can sit in my 6 spd just fine. I think the seats could be more comfortable, but I'll save that for another thread.

I'm 5' 8" with a 32" inseam and don't have any problems other than bumping my shin on the pad under the dash occasionally while shifting. Have you tried leaning the back of the seat forward some? That should allow you to slide the seat back farther. You'd then have to find the right trade off between the two adjustments.

I have played with the slant of the seat to help the cause. I think with some more tweaking, I can get a position where my leg extends when pressing the clutch and the seat has enough lean back where I'm not so upright. It might be that others like the seat back in a more vertical position, giving you more room to slide the seat itself back. Also, I think I'm a little outside the norm in terms of preferred distance from the clutch pedal.

When I have my back position where I want it, I'm a little too close to the pedals and I do end up bumping a little against the underneath of the dash. For the auto, I don't think this is nearly as much of an issue.

I'm not so uncomfortable to give up on a nice car, I was just curious if others in 6 speeds felt the same. It seems that I may be alone on this one, which is great for others.

Mine can get uncomfortable at times. I can't drive with my wallet anymore in my back pocket. Leg will go numb. I am 6' 1" with a 34 inch inseam. Just keep on messing with it.

Ignore the one's that say then why did you buy it in the 1st place. They are just trying to hide their unhappiness by attacking others asking a simple question.

I'm 5' 9" and don't seem to have a problem with leg room. I do have to bend in funny positions to get into the car.

I'm the same size as Bullseye, 6' 1" w/ 34" inseam. I also have the "can't drive with my wallet in my back pocket anymore" complaint.

It would be great if the seat would go back about two more inches, but I can live with the amount of legroom I have. I prefer to have my legs slightly bent.

Excuse me??? I would think most rational people will try a car on for size BEFORE they buy it. Granted, you can't take a trip in it during the test drive, but you can get a pretty good idea how the car feels and handles. If it doesn't seem comfortable and a person buys it anyway, then they have no reason to complain. Seems to me cwdilg had a valid question. End of story.

BTW, do you get off because someone has a different view/opinion than you? Is your opinion the final word here or what?

Hey Bulls, Read the first post again. Do you see a question in that, anywhere? Quit trying to stir it buddy. My question was legit. Have you bought a car that you could not sit in comfortably? I never have and I never will. By the way, I like my Crossfire just fine. I did change out to some new Ronal wheels to change the look a bit. But I like it just fine.

I agree... after 15k miles, I could never really drive comfortably in the car (6' 1") it just never fit right ! After adjustment and re-adjustment, I finally just removed the seats and put Sparco Pro 2000 FIA seats in it... Now I could almost sleep in it!!!

PS: Two almost new (Grey/Cedar) OEM seats for sale... Gimme an offer!

At 5' 10" with a 32" inseam I can find a few different seat settings that fit my needs. I have enough room to lean the seat back a little on long trips. I also have the extension needed when I want to drive the car "hard" with precision pedal work. I am constantly changing my driving position depending on my mood. Always have and always will...

I'm 6'0 and I'm very comfortable with my XFIREX. I don't put my wallet in my back pocket at all...it can cause a nerve impingement called "piriformis syndrome".

Compared to my 99' Mustang - it has way more leg room. I'm 5' 11" and I'm tempted to pull it up some.

I have to agree that the Crossfire isn't the most roomy car in the world but it wasn't intended to be. When I bought mine a few months ago I knew that and yes I test drove one to make sure it fit me alright. I am 6 2 with an inseam of 34" and my legs are bent when I drive the car but not uncomfortably so. Must admit though when I get into my Magnum it seems huge compared to the Crossfire and my legs are straight...in fact in that car I have to bring the seat up a little. But, I love the Crossfire and knew what I was getting into upfront.

The initial post wasn't meant to be a gripe, I was just curious what others thought about the leg room because I had read a review stating that the car had enough leg room for "NBA hopefuls". Maybe they were referring to Early Boykin's and the like.

The car has a decent amount of headroom, I just feel it's short on legroom when you have the 6spd. The legroom issues wouldn't bother me with an auto, and I'm only ever so slightly bothered with the legroom in the 6spd.

Thanks Bullseye.

5' 11" with long legs, 35" inseam and i have an auto but have plenty of room. I am actually installing a dead pedal for my left foot as the factory ledge is to far away for my liking.

6'4" (36 pants) and don't have much room in my AT. It's just ok.
I could need something like a negative dead pedal... Would it be possible to move the pedals farther? If I put my left foot between the footrest and the brake pedal, I feel there's a lot of room to the panel behind, more than the brake needs to go.

Thanks
