Default Off Road

Well it is done, I will not see my Xfire for the next 6 months. Off the road for the winter, so sad, but I do have pics.

By the title I thought you went "really" off road. As in dune buggy...

They are cute when they sleep...

You didn't have to do it. My little car is only afraid of deep, wet snow. Does fine in slush and other assorted winter crap. It also enjoys cutting donuts in slick parking lots. I try to make him stop but he is still young so what can you do?

...too early to put the car away! We've had beautiful, 60-70 degree weather here in Michigan today and yesterday (which is unseasonably warm). I figure I will drive it into November. I'll put it away once we start getting some colder days here, and the threat of snow grows. Don't mean to gloat, but I am now going to sign off, walk out of the office, and enjoy the blast home on 696 in my 2005 six-speed coupe.

Hey,

He lives in New York State I lived there once many years ago, Summer is July 4th (maybe) It may have already snowed there (poor guy) This is why I got the heck out of there 23 years ago. Today it was in the 70's here I am not in the south but it is not bad weather wise no hurricanes, no months of snow, no super hot summers, a twister once in a blue moon. I will drive all year. (I hope).

I'm in crummy NY (on LI) and drove home today with the top down. Didn't even bother putting it up because the weekends supposed to be nice thru Sunday afternoon. Low 70's for this time of year is great and as long as the suns out and the ground is dry I'll drive the car into the winter. Its too nice to park it.

Hey sorry to rain on your parade but you're in Ohio? You must be joking...no weather, no snow, no heat and no nothing.

Typhoon55, Napasanaoma didn't say "no snow", he said "no months of snow". You know, like forgetting what color the grass is. Cincinnati usually has a much milder winter than we do in N.E. Ohio. We get "Lake Effect" snow from the N. coast.(something that only occurs in about 3 or 4 other places around the world) ain't we lucky? Anyway it can pile up and lay around thru Jan. and Feb. (they don't call us the rust belt for nothing)

I have to agree with Uncle Al, I bet our XFs are a blast doing parking lot donuts in. And like RABIDRAIDER, when I first read ODO13780s post, I too thought he took an unplanned trip through the "boonies". (you don't suppose he meant it to look that way, do ya?) Sure am glad he just meant winter storage.

I've been trying to get out a little bit every evening as much as I can, because I'll be parking mine soon too. Just to much sodium on the roads around here for the next 4 months.

My $0.02... having been through it multiple times, IMO southern Ohio seems like a darned nice place to live. I've done my share of traveling, and IMO Arizona and parts of California might never freeze over, but they'll never look as good as the green rolling hills in southern Ohio (or the blissful lakeshores bordering Michigan). These days, everyone wants to live in the southwest or in the deep south. Sometimes, I think they don't know what they are missing. No matter. It just means that I will have fewer people to fight with, when it finally comes time to get that piece of scenic Midwestern holiday property.

I might be in ohio, but I am only 18 miles from Kentucky. I Grew up in Western NY and if you love winter and lots of snow it is a great place. Also you didn't really need to have A/C either. Southern Ohio is a different climate than NY we only get about 6 to 12 inches if snow per winter season, yes once in a great while we i'll get a 10 incher all at once, but only every 4 or 5 years. I am not knocking NY it is my home state, but I am not a snow lover and where I lived a typical snow season would easily reach over 200 inches if snow. I can remember not seeing pavement on secondary roads for weeks at a time. I can remember snow so old it would turn almost grey.

We had 12 inches of snow last week, it is gone for now, but I know it will be back. I live on a hill with a 300 foot driveway. I put up 2 rolls of snowbfence and still the driveway will get blown in once it covers the fence. I will put pics in the gallery so all of you can see that lovely white sh*t!

Remember the blizzard of 1977? I was trapped at my parents (Fredonis, NY) of 1 week we could not drive anywhere and our house was frozen because we had no heat the fuel oil wouldn't flow through the furnace got to thick was -20 out winds up to 60 mph. I will always remember that storm.

Mine is usually put away by now, but we are having great weather. I was out washing it today in a t-shirt. Hope to get a few more rides in before the salt starts to fly.

Could the salt damage my crossfire? She has a Teflon coat.

How did it get a teflon coat? Was this something you did after you bought it? Let us know about this process!

The Chrysler Dealership that sold the car to us asked if we wanted to get a Teflon coat. He said it would be much easier to clean, when it would receive tiny rocks it won't damage the paint, and it will shine more.
So I can't really say if it does shine more, because she has the coat since she is ours.
( I'll post a picture of what she looks like when she has water on her ... )
And she was totally re-tefloned after she was fixed from her little accident.
