In the past, I have debated the benefit of an intake in the Crossfire, but of course I am hoping to be proven wrong. Wouldn't it be great if there were an effective, commercially available intake on the market for our members?

It seems that Fujita makes an intake for the Mercedes ML320. I asked them if this intake could be adapted or modified to work in the Crossfire, as the engine packaging could be similar. They requested engine bay photos, to show the engine bay packaging and layout. They want to see how close the motor sits to the firewall, the air mass sensor, as well as a complete engine shot of the factory intake system. As I mentioned previously, my Crossfire is all buttoned up and stored away for the winter. If you've got engine bay shots, please post them in this thread. Fujita is located in California (Temecula), for anyone that could stop by for a test fit (if requested).

I will try to get some engine bay pic's this weekend and yes I would like an intake just that I can't stop by for a test fit since I live in MO.

 

Juddz: Temecula is way the F out in never-never land of So. Cal. You need to find someone in San Diego, even then, it's an hour east of SD...

I know that DC will authorize a dealer to loan a car to AM performance parts mfg's. perhaps these guys should call the local dealer if they really want to make a part... I'm willing to do the Meagan Racing thing for you, it's only about 45 mins from me, but not going 2.5 hours to Temecula...

Even though my car is a lease, right now, I'd get the intake if it actually works, installs nicely and isn't $600.00 like one that I saw here from Germany!

 

Your point is well taken, HDDP. I think my main intention with this thread is to demonstrate the strong interest level for such a part in our community. But you folks are right, any company wanting to profit from our community ought to take a lot of the initiative (and incur all of the costs) for development. Anyone living close by who wants to encourage the vendor is by all means welcomed to do so, but I am not insisting that anyone drive well out of their way, and act as a free consultant, for that purpose. However, I am insisting that anyone who has griped about really wanting an intake on this forum in the past, speak up now to show your interest level and any preferences you may have.

I might be wrong on this point, but I still think the Sport Compact scene is in decline. Recently, I noticed all of the APC stuff on clearance at one of those "Big Box" stores. I think a lot of companies that have invested heavily in the "Civic scene" need to diversify to European and American cars to survive in the long term, since the market seems to be headed in a different direction. Perhaps that is why a lot of the aftermarket companies I have contacted recently are eager to hear from us.

 

I wouldn't say "decline" as much as I would say "shifted paradigm". I think a lot of the kids are discovering that a loud muffler, big wheels, a wing, and splashy graphics gets them a lot of undue attention from the local constabulary and from thieves. They seem to be spending their money on high-end audio and video instead. I dunno, maybe its just me...

In interesting factoid: My neighbor is an insurance adjuster for a large US-based company and recently he has had several claims where the stereo stolen from the car was worth more than the car itself. They actually will total the car in a situation like that. So a word of warning, if you have expensive aftermarket parts on your ride consider getting a declared value policy.

 

...most insurance companies won't cover aftermarket parts. Worse, some of them may actually attempt to drop you if they find out you've got Eibach springs on your car or something like that.

 

Like all parts. I'd be interested if the price, quality, and performance is right. I have no problem giving up my car but I am now in Milwaukee, WI. If there is a tuner out here, I'm your guy.
