I'm tried of looking at it!
There is a 2005 SRT6 that has been sitting at the dealership for almost a year. It is a coupe light blue in color w/black interior. It has about 3,600 miles on it and it doesn't look like it has been washed since they got it. I don't think they give a damn about the car. They still have the original sticker on the car at $42K. I'm thinking about taking my Red '04 Coupe with 9K miles up there and seeing how they will trade.
Everytime I drive by the place I find my head cranked all the way around looking to see if it is still there. What would be a realistic asking price for the SRT6 and what would be realistic for a trade in for mine? Also, we are talking Chattanooga area. Thanks guys |
Re: I'm tried of looking at it!
i'd offer them 14k on top of the trade in...

Re: I'm tried of looking at it!
I picked up my SRT6 Roadster in Graphite with all available option in San Jose for $38K. It had 61 miles on it. I would guess that $14K is a reasonable amount on the trade in. No more incentives though so it may be tough to hit.

Re: I'm tried of looking at it!
...I would not trade in that '04 Coupe. You'll get screwed on it. The residuals on these cars has been hurt by the incentives on the new cars. But I think if you can get Private Party on it, you would be in good shape. What I would do, is e-bay off the '04 Coupe. You may or may not break even on what you owe (depending on how you financed it), but you won't have to roll over a big chunk of change into the new car, which would negate any savings you could negotiate.
E-bay off the '04 Coupe, take your 19 grand and pay off the loan, and then start from the bottom working the deal on the SRT. I would recommend calling another dealer across town with the exact same car to sell, and get them bidding against one another. Every time you get a new offer, call the other guy and tell him he has just been undersold. Keep it going, and I would not be at all surprised if you get that SRT for somewhere in the low thirties. |
Re: I'm tried of looking at it!
The srt new is about $33-35k. I'd say that used one is 28K max - '04 at 18k = +$10k.

Wayne1992,
I know I sound like a broken record, but there are all kinds of them on e-Bay. Here is a black SRT-6 coupe with just 175 miles on the clock, brand new (never been titled): http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Chrys...spagenameZWDVW You'll notice that it has a "buy it now" of $29,961 - pretty much what DanRoot has been saying is possible. Factor in $500 to ship the car to your doorstep (depending on where you live), and you've got a brand new SRT-6 for not a lot of dough. Turn around and throw your 04 Coupe on e-Bay, and it will be GONE in a week, and at a price level you can accept! It's a little unorthodox way to buy a car, but it is EXACTLY the deal you are after. Getting a car shipped is easy; a lot of dealers selling cars on e-bay will do this for you for a fee of a couple hundred to five hundred or so bucks. |
Re: I'm tried of looking at it!
I agree with juddz...the deal you got from that dealer is terrible! The car on ebay looks really nice and the price is great for that car. If I was in the market (but am not) I would pursue the one on ebay. He has got a lot of cash knocked off msrp for a "new" SRT6.

Re: I'm tried of looking at it!
...I'll tell you, after scouting that SRT-6 on e-Bay, I've had this fantasy of unloading my 05 coupe and getting one of those. I can picture the deal going through, telling my wife "honey, I got a different one, and it's got an automatic this time so you can drive it, too!". This explanation of course would be met with an enthusiastic response with no questions whatsoever about a new bank note and the additional months of payments ahead. This, of course, just underscores that I was somewhere beyond reality when these thoughts were going through my noggin.
Yeah, It would be nice to know how all that extra hp felt. But, I don't know if I could live without the six speed. I love shifting it myself. Besides, in my daydream, the SRT-6 is that gorgeous blue color, and the car I found on e-Bay was black. So there. I talked myself out of it just like that. |
Re: I'm tried of looking at it!
Hey guys, I just test-drove an SRT6 with 9,000 mile on it. Asking price $29,900.
It did run good. I hammered it from a slight roll with the traction control off. It rolled out about 15 feet and started breaking the tire loose. That is the right tire as in "one tire". Definitely no posi-unit. What in the heck were they thinking? It needs a posi or limited slip. The SRT6 was an '05. The automatic transmission would not go into gear until I set there for about 30 seconds. The front of the car was dinged beyond imagination and the silver trim was also dinged. Both headlights were fogged over from the inside. This thing looked good in a photograph but up close you could tell the car had been abused. NO SALE! I really would like to the have more HP but I just wasn't that impressed with the SRT6 over my red coupe. |

Any Forum members who want a great deal on an SRT-6, should really check that car out on ebay and bid on it soon. I don't know how you could do any better than their "buy it now" price. I'm not sure, but I think the discount they're offering, is "practically" the profit margin Ford has on a Ford GT. Anybody who buys that car, can fly into the Akron/Canton airport, and I'll gladly pick you up and drive you to the dealer to pick up your new car. That's the least I could do for a fellow forum club member. Mike P.S. Hey Wayne1992, Chattanooga isn't really that far of a drive from Akron, Oh. |

I have one more SRT-6 near here to look at but I’m starting to re-think what I want to do. I did find a pretty good deal in Dunlap, TN for two new ’04 SRT-4 Neons with about 100 miles on both of them for $15,900 ea. That’s if you’re in that sort of thing. I believe he would come down even more just to move them. I might just have to get the wife a racecar grocery getter. Ha BTW, thanks for the offer! |
