my wife's driving?? Help!
anyone got any ideas?... in auto mode my transmission won't shift gears until about 5,000 rpm... and in manual mode it won't shift at all... happened once before but the dealer couldn't replicate it - told me it was probably my wife's driving!!!
I told them they were nuts... so its going in tomorrow for another look-see... anyone else having this problem? |

If I get into it hard the transmission does not change gears until I've pushed passed 5K, and there after it'll run over 5k each shift until I'm up into a good running gear. In manual mode your right, sometimes it seems like I do hit the rpm limiter, even after I've attempted to shift into 2nd, but I push it anyway and it does change gears, but not before the limiter tries to cut me off. It is strange, but I drive my Crossfire hard and if it blows so be it, I'll have Chrysler give me another engine or transmission for the next 70k miles. So your wife drives the Crossfire that hard? She is the kind of wife a real man would want. hooah |

sorry, she be mine.
the problem happens at low speeds (anything up to 50) around town. under regular acceleration it should change at about 20 mph and again at about 40ish (1st to 2nd-to third), but it just stays in 1st or 2nd till it hits 5,000 rpm and then changes... If I hammer it, its fine... but otherwise, it just seems like the engine is stuck in gear. |

These transmissions are adaptive, they learn your driving habits and shift where you have been wanting it to shift lately, if you are a conservative driver they shift sooner giving you better gas mileage, if you are aggressive they hold the gear longer for that extra bit of power.
If it is as drastic as you make it sound then something isn't right, I would just drive it normally and see if it corrects itself. If not take it in to get checked again. Your wife may really be hammering on it, and its just thinking you were her. bless her heart. |

Just got mine back with a tranny issue. It was the transmission module. Seems all better now, even my wife noticed a difference. The throttle seemed much smoother.

If and when my wife ever drives mine the issue I have is the wheels. It seems certain people don't think about what a curb can do to a wheel. I taught her how to drive a stick so that I'm not worried about, the wheels would be a major concern. I say would be because I'm the only one who drives my car. She drove it around the neighborhood when I got it otherwise she's a passenger.

Thank goodness I don't have the problem who drives the Crossfire...the g/f cant and wont shift so I am totally safe when it comes to "who drives the car?" And yes patpur the wheels on this car are of a major concern...I think they bruise if you look at them cross-eyed.

Hey patpur, that's pretty funny. You say that, my dad had aftermarket 18x9 enkei's on his CTS, and one day my mom took it out and curbed the crap out of the wheel, chunk out of the tire too.
And now with the crossfire, she refuses to drive it. Its quiet funny, and he is getting wheels for the crossfire to, i don't think she'll walk near it. She won't drive my car either, wheels or not. I haven't "driven" my dads car yet, i wanna see what you guys are talking about, poopy tranny's suck. :( |
