HEY I'm New & Have couple of questions

I bought my Crossfire last year, I was wondering what is the best Air Intake (price and significant gains of HP)?
I know of renntech and K&N are there any other brands?
Is it true that there is a twin turbo kit for the car?

Re: HEY I'm New & Have couple of questions

Before you spend your money on an aftermarket air filter try driving your Crossfire around the block once without the air filters. See if you notice any difference, there have been post all over this forum concerning air filters, and people have different input.

Yes there is an aftermarket turbo kit for the Crossfire, do a search for the thread on the forum, I have seen a few pictures of it posted here. hooah

Re: HEY I'm New & Have couple of questions

he means drive the car around without any air filter and see if you can tell a power difference just from a filter change. if not, its unlikely that a K&N will do the job.

there no really "intake" available for the XF; some one-off models made by vendors and individuals, but no mass-market kits are available. some people have even put other MB intakes on their cars (E500 onto the XF, SL55 onto the SRT6).

congrats, welcome.

THANKS For being so helpful i truly appreciate it... most people my age are idiots, don't know crap about cars, and the only advice i hear from them about cars is "I can burn your car" LOL... seriously thanks alot It's great to hear from intelligent/supporting people!!! :p

Isn't there a twin filter K&N kit (I remember hearing about it) ???

What about chip tuning (ecu)?

Re: HEY I'm New & Have couple of questions

K&N does not make a kit but they make replacements for the factory twin air box.

I wasn't even going to say anything on this forum but I noticed another paratrooper on the board here.

I left the 3/505th about a year ago (now I'm a sad little recruiter in Houston).

Selling my MR-S (modified w/ 2zzge like Celica or Lotus Elise if you prefer, except with more mods, 9.5k rpm redline) and my beater 04 Mitsu Ralliart. Was looking only at the Legacy 2.5GT, but it seems that the Crossfire is a pretty nice car.

The Legacy has much potential due to it's STi motor (2-3k = 12.7-12.8 1/4). My only gripe is it's poor skidpad (.81 partially due to the crappy stock tires) and 5 speed tranny. It's AWD which is cool...

If I purchased a Crossfire it would be with the 6 speed. Hopefully someone will make a reasonable turbo kit. Saw that one TT kit in the making. I know any opinions would be biased, but I'd like to hear them nevertheless.

Almost became a recruiter but at the last second I dropped the idea. I know your job is tough, and thank you for doing it. You are a true American.

As for the 6 speed, I don't know. There are several people on the forum that swear by'em, but I drove one before i purchased my auto and did not care for the shifting range. It seems to me it has a long ways to travel before it reaches the next gear, and the shifter feels like it's setting in a bucket full of rocks, but thats just IMO. I'm sure I could've installed a shifter kit and all would had been OK, but doing so means your screwing around with a $35,000 dollar car right off the bat, and I did not care for that idea.

Welcome aboard Airborne. hooah

Re: HEY I'm New & Have couple of questions

Hi new guy:D I put K&N replacement filters on my 04 n/a and noticed nothing other than a 70 dollar charge on my VISA. They dont do much but if you want to keep the stock air box then it would be a tad bit better than stock. (do a search about grill mod, a mod that chops a bit out of the stock grill for better stock air intake. I put a magnaflow 14861 dual tip muffler. I got a TVT cai but alot of folks like needswings alot...just cost a bit more. Sprint booster is a good topic to search...it has pros and cons.

Id love to help more but the wife and kid are hounding me to go shop or something...God help a guy that stands in the way of THAT:rolleyes:
PM me if I can help you further. Search the forum too, theres tons of info.

Good luck

Curtis
