Default fan recall

I called today to set up my appointment to have the fan motor replaced for my radiator, The dealer told me that the replacement fan motor was also faulty and they had to send them back. He said it would have been a recall for the recall.

He told me to check back in about 4 weeks, this is when the new fan motors will be in. So how many of you have had the motor already changed and is my dealer giving me a line bull?

I have so far had nothing but good service from this dealer, no complaints to this date.

They told me it was a module, not the fan.

Napasonoma: I think the fan problem was actually the relay that sits on the inner driver fender well. I wonder if your dealer actually tried a new fan without putting a meter to it to verify - and then sent back a perfectly good fan! I had a crossfire in my shop that the customer discovered the lack of fan right after I worked on the audio stuff. He was looking at me 'cause I just worked on the car! Fortunately I drove my x-fire that day and after a little diagnosis and a little loaner relay out of mine it became clear what was up.

Ok, we are getting confused, I used the word fan motor, but the service manager new what I was talking about, I gave him the recall number. He told me that the "Parts" that came in originally for this recall where faulty and that Germany was sending new ones and they would be here in about 4 weeks. He also told me that he had never had a Crossfire in for issues with this part.

My question to the Forum is: Do any of you have the new module installed and could it be faulty? My dealer told me the correct part will not be available for up to 4 weeks. Or do I need to call a Chrysler Rep and get the real story?

Thanks!

Napa, I live on the Eastside of Cincy. Go to Kerry Chrysler off of 275 and ask for the mechanic Shawn. He is great (been through Xfire school). He let me come into the bay and watch the whole swap out. Great guy! They replaced the whole fan assembly (one piece, includes fan blade and motor) in about 15 mins. It took them about 1 week to get the part in. Went on to replace my faulty NAV/CD radio. Can't say enough about how good the service from this mechanic has been.

Hope it helps!

Thanks Zapa! I think I am going to call the local Rep and get the real story. I have had nothing but good service from Sweeney and have no reason not to believe him, so you may have a faulty fan motor or my dealer is feeding me a line of bull.

Went into the dealership last week to order touch up paint and made an appointment while I was there. Went in yesterday and they replaced the fan in about 15 minutes. It was not a relay but an actual fan motor. Bob

Has there been anyone to date that has experienced the fan and/or relay causing the overheating?
I also have to bring her in for this and curious as to recall. I would think that we would of heard more complaints regarding this as a recall is not volunteered so easily.

I called a few weeks ago to get my recall done. They also told me that they did not have the parts and would have to ship them, and that it would be in a few days and would call me. I have yet to hear from them.

We just purchased our Roadster. We probably wouldn't have even known about the recall if it wasn't for this forum. But we never experienced any problems that might have been associated with the recall.

They did the recall yesterday without any hitch. I also have to say that as part of the care package you can get the top of the line Chrysler cars to drive while they do the warranty work. I got one of those Manwaggons. It was kinda fun.
